@ZYVZX I heard, it's good news for the fighters moving from WEC. Those guys almost always put on amazing fights. It's about time they get the recognition, money and exposure for it.

I can see why professional Boxers hate on MMA fighters when they see them "striking" or "Boxing". But what they don't understand is that it is difficult to become a lethal striker or "boxer" in MMA when you have other aspects of the sport to worry about such as the threat of the takedown, kicks, elbows and submissions. I say the next generation of MMA fighters will be more organic in the sense that they will have grown up training MMA instead of transitioning from other forms of combat sports.

@ineurodreams Yes, i think we're only at the tip of the iceberg in terms of how much growing MMA fighters can do. The fighters of yesterday, like in the 90s can't possibly hang with the fighters of today. In 20 years, we'll be seeing a whole breed of new fighters.

@kanguesso It's going to be very interesting to see this happen. Before it's always been about training in your own discipline. Now it's about doing what works. I am with you in thinking that it will bring the fights to a whole new level, if not, at least it will be nice to see a new breed of fighters. One thing I would enjoy seeing more of is fighters like Jason Mayhem. He is so aggressive in an unconventional manner. I foresee the new fighters training similarly and constantly attacking.

@inforcerer yea I agree, there are guys at my muay thai gym that are literally 127 pounds and their kicks generate a crazy amount of power for their size. But i think its still has to do with the fact that they cant concentrate soley on boxing or kick boxing when they train, because they have so much to worry about.

@kanguesso I feel you but I feel there will always be the Anderson Silva who posseses a skill, in his case Muay Thai, that other fighters just can't touch. Fighters will become more and more well rounded but each individual has their preferences. Overeem for instance has been competing in mma for ten years and just recently won the k-1 GP. Styles make fights and I don't mind seeing a world champion striker fight a decorated wrestler. That's why this sport was created.

@kanguesso yea and also moder boxing striking is vastly different from the bareknuckle ancestor that had a long run than gloved or Modern pro boxing ever did. It was also common place for wrestling groin striking hair grabbing eye gouging and elbowing, to be implemented.

@optimoe54 UFC doesn't have a featherweight division. Also, the Zuffa owns WEC too and they need a big star like Faber to bring ratings and potentially build other stars.

@squirtleenblastoise are you fucking kidding me? id like to see faber beat matt hughes twice or see him win the world ju jitsu competition at black belt level after only three years of training and nobody as successfuly stood and banged with bj penn and if your going to counter that with frankie go look at fight metric he won the striking in both fights and faber just fought some nobody while penn is fighting jon fitch in january so it looks more like faber is the forgotten glory at this point

@7hom the point is that urijah faber got his ass kicked when he was the exact same weight. and weight really dosn't mean anything, especially a 10 pound difference. either way they were the exact same weight when they fought and urijah got his ass kicked. urijah is overrated, good at beating guys who suck but can never beat the champ at any weight class. he will always be number 2 or 3, never number 1.
