I really hope the G league Ignite being shut down is a sign that the NBA and college basketball are going to be partnering for the long term, it would be really nice if the NBA allowed players to get drafted out of high school, but the teams can stash them in college programs. They already do it with the G league. Anyway, everyone is drafted based off potential, you allow these guys to grow as men in these college programs as high recruits, and I think you see a drastic change in the character of these guys. However many years they stay in college will be a part of their rookie contract, they get all of that money once they leave college in a lump sum, that way, they will be financially secure. They will still have the NIL, and pretty soon colleges themselves will be paying these players directly. College basketball isnt a perfect minor-league system, but it would be a hell of a lot better than the G league. Players usually care a lot more about winning in college than the G league, which means absolutely nothing.
