@@rebeccaandrew333 I was raised Roman Catholic and left Catholicism decades ago. I’m grateful that Shane has come to faith in Christ! Yet, I have concerns about him being confused or misled on his faith journey. Since I left Catholicism I’ve been studying it prayerfully and systematically with a biblical hermeneutic and the more I study it the more grateful I am to have left the RCC. I have come to understand that the sacraments are a diversion from pure devotion to Christ. To be free from teaching and the traditions that distort clear biblical doctrine is such a blessing and it positions one to be able to truly hear the voice of God and understand the will of God, not only from the Bible, but from a personal prayer life dedicated to Jesus. I’m grateful that many Catholics are born again and have faith in Jesus Christ. I look forward to spending eternity with those who have. I think many Catholics are in a real relationship with Jesus not because of sacramentalism and sacerdotalism, but in spite of this. I have Catholic friends and family members whom I love. In fact I love all Catholics enough to speak what I understand as truth. Ultimately Truth is a person. The person of Jesus Christ is the Way to the Father not perfunctory religious rites. My intention here is not to offend anyone, but to speak authentically from my own experience. I know millions of Catholics are my brothers and sisters in Christ and I hope that many millions more Catholics come to faith in Jesus and trust in him for salvation and not in the magisterium of the church or many of the teachings that are intrinsic to Catholicism. I’m not saying that everything that is taught in the RCC is false, because the core gospel is preached and scriptures are read, although misinterpreted much of the time. Again, I know that I will spend eternity with many Catholics because of their faith in Jesus. In essentials unity and nonessential diversity and all things charity! I have found when authentic followers of Jesus truly respect and love one another, we can from that place have real dialogue and influence one another for truth. I say this all in love and hope that those following Shane Smith recognize that this is the wrong path to the most authentic Christian life. I think Shane is a brother in Christ and pray blessing over him and hope that he finds his way and does not let religious confusion keep him from the best that God has for him. I want the best for Shane and those following him . Anyone reading this comment who has not come to a saving faith, I urge you to forsake any and all religiosity that would keep you from a dynamic relationship with God through pure devotion to Christ! The truth shall make you free! Best blessings from God our father and our Lord Jesus Christ!

My first mass at the Cathedral of the Madeline was also the last Mass of my son's life. We didn't know that a week later God would call him home in a hit and run. God has chosen to show his providential hand in this in many ways, and one of them is that he had a hymn based on Holst sung as the closing of that mass, and had the choir director choose the very same hymn for the closing song of my son's funeral mass, unbeknownst to me. He also chose that song to be sung at my daughter's choir concert, my other son's graduation mass, and a priest's first mass that I played at, all without me having any part in the planning, and without the planners having any knowledge of this. The majority of times I've ever heard that song in my life were all this year, by Providence. The SLC cathedral will forever be in my heart.

Shayne, your comedy consistently makes me laugh until I cry. I watched your comedy all the time during two of the hardest years of my life, and it helped so much. God bless! Also: choosing to become Catholic as a very young adult many years ago caused my then-boyfriend to begin harassing and undercutting me, saying things like "I mean, I thought you were too smart for this, this is what stupid people do."....it not only helped verify for me that I was going in the right direction, It also gave me the strength to admit to myself what I already knew: that he was a deeply unhappy person and genuinely abusive, and had been actively trying to separate me from any support system or source of self worth outside himself. I knew I had to save myself and get away. I did, and ultimately ended up with a wonderful husband and incomparably happier and more blessed life. I'm so sorry that you had to absorb that same kind of abuse, but magnified a thousandfold and on a world stage. Wishing you happiness and many blessings!

Around 50:10, Matt notes that it actually takes strength to resist porn and masturbation. As a teacher of medieval literature, I always love surprising my students with the idea that the knightly ideal was that of preserving one’s virginity until marriage, because it takes a true man to do that. I would add that feminine virtue also requires this kind of courage (sadly, when I was a young woman I bought the lie that to be emancipated and strong I had to be sexually active before marriage).

Your first Shayne Smith interview is in my top five favorite interviews of the year along with the Jimmy Akin and Breanne Demarco interviews (two of my all time favorite podcasts I've heard throughout my entire life), so I'm looking forward to this follow up! Happy Sacred Heart of Jesus month! And please know that's coming from a loving place as I'm frustrated with the imo blasphemous "Christ is King" usage that's going around. I'm a broken sinner and have fallen many times, and God never abandoned me, and I don't want anyone to feel abandoned. People are suffering enough and I hope they know Jesus loves them far more than they love themselves and everyone on Earth combined could possibly love them. Psalm 34:19 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, saves those whose spirit is crushed. 1 John 4:8-11 Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. 1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us. Matthew 5:44-45 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. John 13:34-35 I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” "To love is to will the good of another." -St. Thomas Aquinas "If we turn away from evil out of fear of punishment, we are in the position of slaves. If we pursue the enticement of wages, . . . we resemble mercenaries. Finally if we obey for the sake of the good itself and out of love for him who commands . . . we are in the position of children." -St. Basil the Great John 17: 20-21 '“I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me." John 15:13 No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. In 1856, Blessed Pope Pius IX designated that the Feast of the Sacred Heart would be celebrated universally on the Friday after the Corpus Christi octave every year, and I hope you had a Blessed Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus last week June 7th! If anyone is struggling, please know you are loved. And if anyone feels like your heart is breaking, if it means anything, I hope it can give you a little ease to know that in order for your heart to break, you must have love in your heart, which means you have so much love to give, and thank you for being so loving. All life is precious and priceless! Your life matters! I believe every single individual no matter our past or present story, which is informed by our personality, which is shaped by our faith, upbringing, tastes, culture, intelligence, finances, health, choices, traumas from the moment we were conceived, our life is a precious gift. The human person, having both body and spiritual and immortal soul, is only created for his or her sake, meaning he or she is not utility property. We were made in the image and likeness of God, who I believe to be Goodness, who is Love, which, imo, means each individual is made good, and is made to love and be loved. “The Sacred Heart has given us everything--redemption, salvation, sanctification.” -St. John Paul II “If I cannot see the brilliance of your Face or hear your sweet voice, O my God, I can live by your grace, I can rest on your Sacred Heart!” - St. Thérèse of Lisieux “In the Sacred Heart every treasure of wisdom and knowledge is hidden. In that Divine Heart beats God’s infinite love for everyone, for each one of us individually.” -St. John Paul II Psalm 139:13-16 You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I praise you, because I am wonderfully made; wonderful are your works! My very self you know. My bones are not hidden from you, When I was being made in secret, fashioned in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me unformed; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be. Hope you have a light-filled peaceful joyful week, Matt! God bless you and your family!

As a woman and a wife, I despise secular Valentine's Day (though we do recognize St. Valentine on the day and teach our kids about him, let them make cheesy V-day cards, and eat chocolates.) I just never wanted to receive gifts or gestures simply because everyone else was doing it. I told every male I was ever involved with before Valentine's Day that this is how I felt. None of them ever believed me (which was extra-insulting), and then because I'm not a total jerk, I'd have to sit through a dumb dog and pony show that I never wanted only to hear that same guy make fun of me to his friends a few days later about how he had to do something to appease the silly woman on "Obligational Gift Day". Ugh, it was so frustrating. Then, I met my husband. The first year we were together, I told him I didn’t want to do Valentines Day. He said, "Okay. Cool, I don't like it either." Then Valentines Day rolled around, and I braced myself for a day of cringy cheese and unoriginal "romance." And... nothing. Sweet, lovely, actually-listening-to-my-wants silence. We did hang out that day (we hung out pretty much every day at that point), but there was no mention of Valentines Day at all. And now, every year, it's just the same. We hang out and play video games instead of suffering through a night at a crowded restaurant or waste money on commercialized garbage. Man, I love my husband.

I am so glad to see that Shayne is back! Last show with him my wife was in the ER and after she went back for surgery and recovery all I could do was wait, so it was the perfect chance to calm down and listen. We are huge fans of both Shayne and Pints so it’s amazing seeing this relationship happen. Glory to Jesus Christ 🙏💪

Oh, Shane! I liked your gross dog metaphor! It reminded me of C.S. Lewis' the Great Divorce story when a soul kept refusing to be separated from his dragon. You may like reading that during this time, when things are so new! In case anyone else has insomnia and is looking for something to try, I've had two forms of insomnia in my life. First kind, could be lying in bed for 4, 5, 6 hours, not fall asleep until 5.AM or until right before I was meant to wake. Magnesium oil (NOT oral mag. Never worked to take orally). Copious amounts rubbed in very well. Itched and stung, but actually made me sleepy after years of being tired, and allowed my brain to drift until it could let go of consciousness. Second kind was after birth, and a doctor told me I was low in taurine. I could go to sleep, but not fall back asleep after getting up with my son. A couple of weeks on this stuff had me back to normal. - kat

When he talks about pre-2000's stand up comedy, I was literally thinking, "but what about Mitch Hedberg??", right before he says Mitch Hedberg. 😂 He's now one of three people alive that I've ever heard of who know who Mitch Hedberg was, including me!

I was raised Catholic. I now just consider myself a Christian, go to church, and am getting baptized again in a few weeks (I was baptized as a baby in a Catholic church). I don't really know what biggest differences are between like Protestant Christians and Catholics, I'm just glad that Shane has decided to follow The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God bless Shane and everyone! 🙏

My birthday is on Valentines Day and I DO not let my husband buy me flowers or take me out to eat. I much rather he cooks me dinner or buys me my favorite chocolate chip cookies. You guys are awesome. Welcome to the Faith Shayne.

You need to read the Bible and learn what the truth, the gospel, and the Christianity of the Bible actually is. Repent!

@@Ty4good ,...If you are a catholic and or are not 100% against the manmade abomination of catholicism,/orthodoxy, then you are NOT a believer in the God/Jesus of the Bible. You are completely apostate and are accursed of God. Again, repent!

I was raised Roman Catholic and left Catholicism decades ago.
