Lerdsila got caught and knocked down with a spinning backfist in a kickboxing match against Gabriel Varga a long time ago, but I don't think anyone has been able to catch him with one since then. Even in that fight he was able to immediately get up and convince the ref that it was just a slip, so he's tough in addition to being extremely hard to hit.

I'll have to check that one out. THanks for letting me know about this!

@@FightCommentary I'm pretty sure Varga has it up on his channel and talks about the fight. I think it's available elsewhere too. It was interesting, because I think at that point Lerdsila had had over 100 fights, but I don't think he was as used to the sorts of things kickboxers might throw at him, or the sorts of things that judges were looking for when it came to scoring. It's been interesting to check back in on his fights and see how he's adjusted.

Muay Thai that allows throws, dumps and ground strikes (along with headbutts). Is Muay Boran. There is no need to hybrid Muay Thai with anything, its predecessor is Muay Boran. Muay Thai, originated for competition. Muay Boran was their militaristic style for anceint battlefield, along with Krabi-krabong. Unarmed and armed combat, for when you have no weapon, your body becomes one. E.g the teep, is a spear thrust motion, you bring the knee up verically and you drive your leg and foot like the spear and tip. 🙏 🥊
