First of all, it’s definitely not a “tank” and not even a “light tank.” Scimitar is a CVR(T) or Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) and not even considered and IFV let alone a tank. Secondly, the story this is referring to is of Scimitar 23, Charlie of the Blues and Royals Cavalry Regiment. It’s an interesting story, but the plane was targeting ships, not the tanks and they were in what was called “bomb alley” as it was frequented by Argentine aircraft for strike missions. The gunner 18 year old Reg Hastings actually had 6 rounds loaded and fired them all in a panic, with the 4th round striking the underside of the jet as it turned exposing its underside. This actually happened at 9:10am on May 24th at Blue Bluff Cove on the Falklands, which was also incredibly Reg Hastings 19th birthday! Another soldier tried to claim he’d shot down the Mirage with his submachine gun, but after an unsurprisingly short investigation the kill was credited to the crew of 23 Charlie. P.S. 23 Charlie was recently found in 2022 (I believe in storage) and is set to be refurbished and displayed along with the other 2 Scimitars of the squadron which have already been museum pieces for a while. Although my knowledge of military gives me an edge on this creator, it took me not even 20 write, double check facts, edit, re-edit typos and post this comment. I’d be willing to bet my 20 or so minutes of effort gave you a much more complete picture of the events, and yes it was simply to make a point. Please don’t trust the BS these KZbin shorts based and computer voiceover channels tell you. It’s the utmost epitome of lazy history and lazy creators. The Falklands War was 42 years ago. Since then, Great Britain has so totally disarmed itself through decades of budgetary cuts to its military that it simply does not have the weapons and manpower to mount a large expeditionary military force to the other side of the world anymore. The only thing preventing Argentina from taking the Falklands back has been Argentina's even worse economic and military deterioration during this same period of time, as well as the UK resolutely blocking the sales of any new large military upgrades with UK components in them.

In hindsight the British MoD probably should've just made the platforms a little bigger and went with something like a Bushmaster 25mm but hindsight is 20/20 I guess

He’s a good man. Supposedly a Sherman sunk a German U boat. The tanks were on deck of a transport ship. Combat loaded. A tanker gunner wanted to familiarize himself with the Sherman and was viewing the open ocean with the gunsight and saw a periscope and fired at it and punctured the hull forcing it to surface. Not sure if this can be confirmed. I found out by way of studying trick questions asked during Sergeant Morales Review Boards. The only unit in the Army to be allowed to wear the blue background without its metal border is that man’s tank unit. Because of what he did the Army allowed it.

I literally drove one of the tanks that appears in this video. In the video, when the voice says "measuring 5 meters in lenght" a tank with the inscription "APOKAS" appears on screen. This specific tank is part of a private collection in Italy and can be driven by visitors. I drove it in 2021. And, by the way, it is a Sabre, not a Scimitar (the vehicles are almost identical)

He told his Commander he was sorry, but he was going to join this battle. The Commander, somewhat upset with this insuboordination, said he wished all of America had his intense fighting spirit. He later jumped on a grenade to save his fellow Marines. He actually jumped on two Japanese grenades, after the first sent him flying into the air onto his back, the 2nd which was in his hand, did not detonate. Oh yeah. He survived.
