The m61 vulcan (which I assume this setup is simulating) has a fire rate of 6000 rounds per minute. Or 100 rounds per second. It fires huge ass 20 mm round so you can store far less a number of them at a place. And all other rotary canons of this class have similar characteristics. Meaning? That CIWS would've run out of ammo long before.

I believe the Phalanx CIWS fires around 3000 RPM, but you’re still correct that it would’ve run out of ammo long before it shot down the plane, especially since the mag capacity is around 1,500 rounds.

First off, the ammo drum on the CIWS doesn't hold anywhere near enough rounds to fire for that long without reloading. Second, the barrels would be utterly destroyed with that amount of sustained fire.
