It's not India's version of Top Gun. Top Gun Maverick was based on a fictional story, whereas Fighter is based on a real incident of Pakistan attacking India at Pulwama with suicide bombers, and India's retaliation in the form of bombing terrorist camps in Pakistan.Yes, some action shots might point you towards Top Gun Maverick because that's all you have to compare to. But, the action shots and maneuvers in Top Gun Maverick were very Basic Air Force manuevers which are done by every country in flight exercises throughout the globe. So, again, comparing this movie to Top Gun Maverick is like comparing apples to oranges. I think Siddharth Anand has done a good job directing as he has done with many other Hrithik movies.

Yes, this movie is about the Balakot air strikes strikes and the terror attack. It’s not a Top Gun copy or remake. BUT, the trailer did give vibes of Top Gun and Maverick. That was my point. I am not saying it is a copy of those movies 🙂. I’m just saying the trailer did a good job of showcasing the similarities between all three movies.. That is all I am saying 🙂

After Top gun, if anywhere air battle type movie will be made that does not mean.. that it will be copy of top gun. Obviously it will be compared but saying copy should not be a right word. It is absolutely true that many shots in this movie are inspired by Top Gun and I think there is nothing bad in it.The world knows that Hollywood makes the best movies and people are inspired by best things, but giving CGI like Top Gun in such a low budget is no small thing.

It was really amazing... Super sonic producing shots by aircraft will be there if anyone make an aviation film so i guess it doesn't necessary to be compared to other movies based on some scenes. Inspired by indian air force. Inspired by pulwama attack. The directir wanted to make a movie on the air force for more than 15 years. Push ups planes etc. are there in Eve h air force. I watched the movie twice. I have watched top gum twice. No scene in either of tbe movies can be said they are copied.

​@@justanotherarmyvet2.0yes I enjoyed it. I enjoyed Maverick and Fighter equally. Maverick was on the US Naval Air command this movie is on the Indian Air Force. So a fighter plane taking off from an aircraft carrier is always much more cinematic. But the quality of scenes the VFX were absolutely breathtaking in both the movies.

1:00 Mam honestly i dont know what it is with the movie makers disrespecting and blatantly lying about military rules. The scene shown on this time stamp where the aircraft passes dangerously close to a helicopter is a seriously punishable offense in aviation all over the world. I mean the pilot could be court-martialed for endangering the life of a fellow pilot and putting both of the million dollar macines at risk. Same issue is with Top gun movies. There's a reason why in real life the AFCAT (Air Force Common Aptitude Tese) and the PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) are so difficult in the first place.

I would like to say many here tht stop comparing TOP GUN MAVERICK and our FIGHTER...in terms of budget , story , etc... Hrithik is our own Tom cruise . And people always say why only India Pak story or narrative...are yaar yahi toh un logo ne Kiya he...we have max. Instances about their $hit ... And moreover a thing is tht.. according to the book " THE ULTIMATE GOAL , HOW NATIONS BUILT NARRATIVE" by former RAW chief , Vikram sood sir has also mentioned that how US gov. Funds film , production, script goes through their table....etc..they do this to show their latest weapons...Jets , guns , tanks, Aircraft carriers etc shown in movies are real...in TOP GUN, TRANSFORMERS , BATTLESHIP etc....If our government will do this it will have political huu Halla and security issue ...so this is max. He is saying the US government funds these war /military movies?? I have never heard that before. If anything, the production company gives money to the DOD for their assistance after the script was approved by DOD officials. The DOD has to get compensated for the equipment and their time; it would be against the law and DOD policies if they funded any movie without being reimbursed.

So two things, first the US government and US military does not fund any movies. Hollywood pays them for their assistance, time, and equipment. She was only comparing scenes from the trailer to top gun. She never said the movie was going to be like top gun. She did not say it was gonna be a copy. And whether or not the movie is a copy of top gun or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s a movie about pilots. That alone will draw comparisons to other movies about pilots, such as top gun or Maverick. She could’ve also made comparisons with behind enemy lines, Bat 21, or even Pearl Harbor. Also, she did at the end tell you what the plot of the movie was. It’s about the terror attack and the Balakot airstrikes.

In border(1998) they literally showed the CO giving thumbs up to pilot and pilot sees if from the air, inside the aircraft, and replies with thumbs up. Although border is a legendary movie.
