Absolute spot on training to stop any attackers with boxing gloves that throw punches from 8 feet away

Basically this is a muay tai high guard, here he is exaggerating but in other of his videos you can see how the position of the hands is not so high (or at least with time paul changed its form). Another thing is that he is using the guard defensively by taking distance, if a jab only reaches your elbow no other punch is going to reach your body. Taking distance and checking kicks is a defensive strategy

One little thing I'd like to add. I prefer keeping my hands/arms a bit Lower, so as to protect my stomach----however, I've noticed that, in Street fights, dudes seem to like throwing punches at the head! Therefore, if I'm going to use Vanuck'S technique, I'm also going to Crouch a little lower, in order to reduce the 'Target area.'

@@dhalav from what I am to understand is that they did take away some concepts and incorporated them with their own. Vunak is a .....kind of a wild man. Some things work for him that don't work for others. But that is sort of what jkd encourages, I suppose. It's not that the seals didn't find him effective either. It's just they didn't think his system ...as a complete course.....would benefit them. What he is doing right now is what many bouncers use in close spaces when approached by drunks who usually are predictable with haymakers as well.

To all the people criticizing and being negative Nancies talking about body shots I say this..There is more than one way to deal with any attack whether that's a kick to the liver or anything else. He didn't say not to parry or step back when kicks come in, in fact he does this in his movement. A well rounded martial artist may have numerous tools available at their disposal and this is definitely one of them. You can respond in different ways given the situation. Is it easy to catch a punch on your elbow? No it takes practice and proper movement/body mechanics as well as fight IQ but does it put someone's hands out of commission? Hell yes it does!

There’s a reason the best fighters from the street all the way up to UFC WBC whatever hold their hands down. 1 is cause holding them up high and playing jazz hands boxing will greatly diminish power. Cause you’ll swatting down instead of forward. And second cause two fighters near equal in skill will rely on conditioning. Jazz hands spends more energy. I’m not saying this can’t work. If you’re fast enough and are aggressive and got some good experience doing it then maybe yeah. But traditional orthodox striking works best for a reason as well. Cause it works. This is just more bullshido.

This is bullshit. You need to always take an escape as your first choice. You always have to think that there's multiple attackers With weapons. The best thing is always to alleviate the situation words and get out.. If you try to sit there and do this it would be great in a ring but on the street there's so many obstructions and variables within the equation of the fight that are going to hurt you. The best thing is to hit him hard back away and get the fuck out of there or bail right off the bat before it escalates. You don't know if he has a knife, you don't know how many attackers are going to be there you don't know if there's someone behind you and you don't know if there's outside influences such as cars near the street, or other objects that can cause you harm. If you're by yourself eliminate the situation as fast as you can and get the fuck out.. If you're with people then you are now a number 2 and have to rationalize what you're willing to risk. If he has a knife or a gun you're gonna lose every time so you need to measure how much you care about the ones around you. Hence if you have your wife there you fight till you die. The rest you need to worry about yourself. Going home makes you a hero. Not this shit.
@tedj432 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I've knocked out a considerable number on the street in my life. When you can't get out of it, ALWAYS get there 1st is how I was taught with knockout power. Fast, 1 and done. It's worked every time. However after putting another one to sleep 10 yrs ago I got hit very hard from behind to my optic nerve area of my forehead. I was blinded completely for maybe 8-10 seconds with 2 guys then trying to pound me. Covered up and countered, connected but took one again. Managed to not get ko'd but my arms and shoulders took a real bruising from about 20 hard shots. Only time I ever got hit in a street fight. When I got my vision back they had scattered. If the guy would've had a knife he could've slit my throat from behind. Multiple guys on one is always a danger nowadays. No more 1 on 1. Kinda sad. These days gotta carry anyway hopefully legally.
