Several years ago, I was choked into unconsciousness in a street fight. A properly applied blood choke only takes seconds. Since that day, I have always carried a razor sharp knife that can be drawn with either hand. If ANYONE ever gets an arm around my neck again...... I will perform surgery on the offending limb, without the benefit of anesthesia.

That's exactly how it is. RNC can be countered within a certain time frame, but if it is already fully in place, there is no way to get out of it.

One arm rear is totally doable. But they probably didn't know and therefore if your opponent doesn't know either it is still valuable

Yeah it’s common in high level BJJ but you need lower body control. It’s not really possible in the position he was showing

Yeah but without a lock it can be moved ' however this doesn't happen ' the rear choke is on very quick and if the vegus is pushed there is 30 seconds

If you are standing there is a CHANCE you can cancel a full lock but you still gotta turn a bit and try to trap their lead leg with your leg and hope to lizard wiggle out, full chokes are nightmarish. Having a knife helps at least you can poke their stomach before they kill you but you only got about 10 to 20 seconds. :p

I've been a fan of Sifu Vunak since the 90's. I would respectfully disagree that the first arm that goes around the neck should be and MUST be addressed. One armed rear naked chokes are quite common, easily done, and catch people even at the highest levels of grappling competition and MMA IE: Gordan Ryan versus Andre Galvao and Gary Tonon as examples.
