You wake up at an abandoned train station in Krat, a city overwhelmed by madness and bloodlust. In front of you lies a single note that reads:
"Find Mr. Geppetto. He's here in the city."
Play as Pinocchio, a puppet mechanoid, and fight through everything in your path to find this mystery person. But don't expect any help along the way and don't make the mistake of trusting anyone.
You must always lie to others if you hope to become human.
Inspired by the familiar story of Pinocchio, Lies of P is an action souls-like game set in a cruel, dark Belle Époque world. All of humanity is lost in a once beautiful city that has now become a living hell filled with unspeakable horrors. Lies of P offers an elegant world filled with tension, a deep combat system and a gripping story. Guide Pinocchio and experience his unrelenting journey to become human.
The timeless tale of Pinocchio has been reimagined with dark and striking visuals.Set in the fallen city of Krat, Pinnochio desperately fights to become human against all odds.
The city of Krat was insipired by the Belle Époque Era in Europe (late 19th Century to the early 20th Century) and is the epitome of a collapsed city bereft of prosperity.
Experience interconnected procedural quests that play out depending on how you lie. These choices will then affect how the story ends.
You can combine weapons in a multitude of ways to create something new altogether. Research to find the best combinations and make something truly special.
With Pinocchio being a doll, you can change parts of his body to gain new skills and hopefully an edge in battle. But not all of the enhancements are for fighting though, they can also provide several other unique and useful features.

So, you _can_ read the puppet language without any sort of deciphering - it helps to look at it from a short distance. For example, The Parade Master says here: "Finally, a guest is here! (Hard to make out the second half, seems like a broken sentence)", "Oh, the King is celebrating!", phase 2 entry, "Bad children get the stick!", on death, "You would've given the King a real festival...". He has some other lines as well during the first phase, but Cowboy beat him down pretty fast.

On NG+, all of the text is translated and can be read like normal. It makes the King of Puppets fight really sad.

This feels like a really cool potential genre for video games, or fiction in general. Like, fictional/historical characters in a startlingly different world setting to what we're used to. Pinocchio fighting in what's like Yarhnam, Robin Hood traversing through a cursed Sherwood Forest, Blackbeard the pirate sailing across the seas of the underworld in an attempt to reach heaven or something. I just feel like this idea can be taken and ran with.

Both in terms of design and difficulty , the Parade Master is easily the scariest first boss I've ever seen in a Souls-like .

If you're having trouble with the first boss I highly recommend you buy all of the EMP grenades from the merchant. They do so much damage to the boss.

If you perfect parry red attacks, you don't take damage. It just uses up a bit of stamina. But dodging is certainly a good option too.

It's easily the best soulslike not made by FromSoftware. And to be honest it's better than a few of the FromSoftware ones too. I can't wait to see what the studio makes next, I feel like with the huge success of this game they'll be making more soulslikes now. Hopefully something new instead of Lies of P 2. Like, if they went through other public domain stories that are available to use. They could do something like an Alice in Wonderland soulslike for example. Or The Wizard of Oz. Or even something like Dracula which would be pretty simple to do because it takes place in Europe, most of the story being set in London, and so the assets they created for Lies of P could be re-used to recreate victorian era London. And maybe every single boss you fight, is actually Dracula every time, in a different animal or monster form (because in the book he can transform into tons of different things, not just a bat). But I'd rather they went with a brighter more colourful world for their next soulslike, like Alice in Wonderland or the Wizard of Oz, because that's really a type of soulslike that doesn't exist yet. Every single soulslike seems to want to be really dark and gloomy. So the first developers who make a soulslike but set it in a bright colourful world would be tapping into completely fresh territory and people would be very intrigued. The closest thing we have at the moment is the two Star Wars games Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor which are pretty bright and colourful and people seem to consider them to be soulslike games (I feel like they're too easy for that, but I'm just going along with the consensus here). Having a bright wizards of oz or Alice in wonderland soulslike wouldn't have to mean that they aren't still scary. Those worlds are bright and colourful but have still got tons of creepy eldritch monsters in them. It'd be a cool world to hang out in. And they'd still be as hard to play as every other soulslike.

I know u said ur not doing a walk through but there are so many secrets with this game. Using gestures in certain areas give secrets and when u talk to the riddle king u can go back to that phone to learn new info from him and hints to find trinity keys. This game is amazing.
