As a veteran Souls player, I've always gravitated to the Quality build with a maxed out Claymore. That's been my default choice for play through 1 for every Souls game. You do tend to give up some damage points, but the move set ... it's just perfection! Well done to you for talking about that in the beginning. Couldn't agree more.

This probably goes without saying but if your making this character from scratch vagabond is the way to go, you can hit the main stats in the build at 140 giving you 10 levels to play with!

Made my first quality build (still early in the game) Farmed 3 lordsworn straight swords and put all three on the right arm with different ashes. Square off, storm stomp, and sword dance. Being able to combo off unpredictably saved my behind many times getting invaded/utility in pve. Requires farming lots of smithing stones but it's fun.

Some more notable quality weapons are the knights gs, banished knight halberd, storm hawk axes (great weapon art) and lord sworn ss. Don’t sleep on storm blade. With shard of Alexander it will hit for 630 to 730 dmg at 50/50

a weapon i find interesting is the duelist's greataxe bcus it has a high str requirement and obviously is a greataxe but actually scales better with dex by default so its a good quality weapon, B in both when quality

@@MegaPooper77 Personally I rly love flails on horseback. The heavy swing is fast and has a lot of hits, triggering blood loss quite often. Otherwise Id say take any weapon you like the moveset of, pretty much any weapon works. Also focus on 40 vigor and what ever stats you need to wield certain weapons until you skill dmg. Most weapons have shitty scaling anyway until you upgrade them quite a bit.

I decided to do a quality build for my first run but I dipped a few points into Int and Faith so that I could run a few incantations. Use the Beast Seal for the Str scaling and then use Beast and Flame incantations. Will probably respec later though to focus on one build.

One of the best and least mentioned ways to proc a status effect on bosses is using the Barrage skill, which lets you rapid fire your bow until you're out of stamina, uses hardly any fp. Get the right arrows, the range talisman, and you can set you mimic up to tank while you snipe from safety. Going to have to switch arrows on the fly though, if you want to poison and rot them, then dps with bleed arrows. Could use knives but gets you a bit close.

Quality build here with the Bloodhound greatsword. Good passive bleed build-up and movesets. I will probably take this sword all the way through to the end, and have my claymore as a back-up. Both great swords.

I run this build. I don't really care for the fundamentalist spells (that I have, anyway, could be a good one out there), but having access to sorceries and incants is pretty great. Sword of Night and Flame doesn't need anymore good press, but the weapon is truly amazing for PvE. Light enough to leave room for a shield, fast swings, fantastic weapon arts, great damage (dont have my stats in front of me, but +10 is 700+ AR at 45/45 int/faith).

Quality is cool for first playthrough if you looking to build broadly early and looking to go hard on 1-2 stats later. It allows you to utilize different weapons and skills based on the enemies weakness.

I would also say the flamberge is a good quality greatsword as well and passive bleed ash of war can be changed and be buffed with grease. Also the jellyfish shield with a quality build is amazing

@@SolZaer It's good in the beginning (Vagabond possibly the best starting class but doesn't matter that much), but I would focus toward one stat mid game, dex or str, as the scaling doesn't work as well mid game if you are doing quality weapons then end game even them out. Quality takes a lot of stats (65 to 80 levels just to build out Dex and Str, which doesn't include Via and End) and a lot of levels but it can be strong.

The Great Epee with the Glintblade Phalanx ash of war is another great choice. Only issue with the build I'm running into is there is no room for spirit ashes. Either you're running mimic tear or nothing at all, haha. I may try to run a little less endurance and put the points into mind and see how that goes.

I'm having a ton of fun with my quality build so far... started out Samurai and was using sword and shield alot... upgraded eventually into Naginata + Visage Shield... was planning on using Fingerprint lol but it got patched. Now I'm using mainly bloodhound fang + scion shield, but I'll also rock the greatsword, double uchis, morningstar with aoe Ash, vs ranged bosses sometimes I'll use Urumi I'm loving elden ring, the bell bearings allow you to try out as many builds as you want compared to other souls games and I really feel like every boss fight feels different depending on my weapon choice It even makes farming fun lol, learning all the different movesets etc

That Bloodhound Fang carried me all game, it is insane! Coupled with a Visage Shield, if you want to block almost everything, it is bonkers (provided you have the strength and stamina). The Bloodhound Fang coupled with a Cold Dismounter + 24 and the Mimic summon DESTROYS Malenia, and I have no idea how you could otherwise do it, meaning dealing insane amounts of damage very fast, but I'm looking forward to your discoveries. My build is a bit different, I invested more in Endurance than Vigor so I can wear heavier sets without the need of talismans, but I'll try yours, too. Thanks for all of these!

As a min-maxer I have never played quality but now I made a new char that is sl50 with only minimum str+dex to wield some heavy weapons and rest to stamina and health for invading and it has been the most fun I ever had! I just picked up the night ride glaive yesterday and fell in love. Now I see you use it here haha! Great minds and so on. I like damage so I run the wolf armor and talisman that gives more jump attack damage in pve and in invasions pretty much what you are rocking. Scorceal is just a must when playing on low soul level.

I love the samurai mask you find late game the pale face with the crazy white hair. It goes with almost any armor especially the darker colors. Just an awesome mask. Which is funny, cuz I've always like having a helmet on never cared about what my character looked like, cuz if I have the option to wear a helm I'm going to and then I find a mask that is basically just a different natural look for the character.

I went on an AR calculator and... there are annoying amount of weapons that SEEM like they should scale best as Quality (like the Beastman's Curved Sword), but in truth they get much better damage as either pure strength, or pure dex.

Mmm… I’m not really sure about your endurance stat and that seal to pump your stats by 5 points… I’d prefer to see these builds tested on miquella’s tree because vyke alone almost melted you with lightning. I guess it’s a good thing to have all those hp and str/dex but I’d rather save some points for endurance to have a bit of poise (you’re 3 or 4 points always from the minimum to resist the stagger by 1 light hit) since those big weapons has long startup animations.

I went Quality in NG+ so I can have fun with a variety of weapons/skills. Greatsword with Giant Hunt Claymore with Glintstone Pebble Nagakiba with Lion’s Claw Partisan with Ice Spear 2 Scavenger’s curved sword with Bloodhound’s Step and Raptor’s Mist Surprisingly Ice Spear is great vs flying enemies. Just shoot them down. Giant Hunt is mega damage and best vs humanoids. The Glintstone Pebble does decent damage but it has an improved R2 as a combo which is insane. The Nagakiba is best with my Bloodflame buff. Also got Flame Grant me Strength. These buffs also greatly buff the Greatsword which results in 2500 damage Giant Hunt attacks. I got 60/60 Str/Dex. Also 60/60 quality does more damage than 80 Str Heavy or 80 Dex Keen. But it’s offourse 120 stats vs 80. But in NG+ I had enough stats. I am lvl 206.

I've gotten quite a few weapons and have varied between using tree sentinel golden halberd +6 and hookclaws +17. Just got the spinning wheel axe and upgraded it to +6 or 7 and like it but it is rather slow. This is with strength, dex, endurance and vitality each at or within a few points of 40. I'm really conflicted on which weapon to use, as the golden halberd and spinny wheel can't be buffed.

Obviously you've got a lot of other builds in mind and on your plate, that's one that interests me a lot cause I haven't really seen many videos on it. It was never truly viable in the other games but it seems like it might be in this one with all the new mobility options and ash of war system. I think you could afford to drop Endurance down to 25- if I'm not mistaken that's the hardcap for stamina. If you're wanting heavier armor, that can be solved with the Jar Charm. That way you could either drop your Levels for invasions or invest in a but of faith for buffing

Only doing a little less damage than your bloodhound fang I think 740 at 40 str and 45dex and 25end put the other points into arcane for a lil extra bleed plus I use moghs trident and morgotts cursed blade

How close should your str and dex be to convert your weapon to quality? Within 5 points? 10? Do they have to be exactly the same?
