Remember kids, never let a Redditor tell you Alatreon is a bad fight. They suffer from chronic skill issue and can't appreciate a good fight when they see one. Also, Longsword sucks and self respecting people shouldn't use it.
Please don't go witch hunting the guy at the start, thanks. He's wrong but you don't have to dogpile him for it, this is just me being petty, making an excuse to fight Alatreon, and showcasing that you don't actually have to be really good at the fight to win. This is just some not-so-friendly ribbing, please don't be that guy.

@@ahmadbugshan9603 alatreon has so many gimmick and solution to his problem. -DPS check but you must do it in 10 minutes or escaton judgement makes you cart, but he always jump and fly around, so you forced to do play aggresively. -horn easy thing to break it is by the wall flinch but the arena has little wall and he hard to clutch or mount, and it must be break at specific time or he element changes anyway. - you must use elemental with a minimum damage but he has any elemental blight especially dragon so you must bring null or have elemental resistance. -his annoying pin attack -you must throughly prepare for escaton judgement, even you manage to do dps check or you died nonetheless. -you get thrown in front of his face in special assigntment. I mean pick couple of them instead picking all of them. Raging brachydios and furious rajang only have those massive damage and annoying moves but that it you can play more passive and they still can be trapped and get attack by ailment

A very specific charge blade playstyle is what I've been using for SOS to always reach at least 2 elemental topple no matter what, combined with a lifedust they wouldn't die from a judgement, but I'd wish them luck on other moves, it's still fun with a taroth+frostcraft db set tho.

@@Slaking_ its the same principle as gs, good positioning a good timing. its not an alien concept, you just dont use the weapon and so dont have the muscle memory for those timings and positionings. like not timing the attack as he is just about to take flight, or not just aiming for the head for the initial thrust cause it can be a flimsy target etc also screw you for making me second guess if my discord was open.

Spirit thrust only to miss by a millimeter or to have the monster somehow fucking matrix dodge your blade (this has happened to me way too many times). Helmbreaker only for the monster to jump 50 feet away, or smack you out of the air, or roar, or have an exploding puddle on the ground that EXPLODES RIGHT AS YOU LAND AND CANCELS YOUR HELMBREAKER FUCK. Yet still, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Something about stabbing into a monster, using your sword as a pole to swing yourself up, and the coming down with this huge slam, plus those hitsounds on a successful HB. Truly one of the sickest moves in all of gaming.

It's not a too dissimilar concept; but you have to think about positioning in two places (connecting the thrust and then landing the actual helmbreaker). Whereas greatsword you only have to think about the one big TCS hit. You'll see the difference in how you land them during Fatalis' roars during runs (Longsword aims for the chest for initial hit then moves to the head on the helmbreaker down, GS just has to position by the head and time the charges right). I can also see the similar thinking happening with your foresight slashes; you think of the first evasion part of the move which is great, but not connecting the rebound, or the roundslash finish. And then also weapon length does matter lol, which makes sense why at a range TCS would hit it feels like helmbreaker isnt lol. Of course, it all comes down to practice to get it during hunts :) 60 hunts with this skill level is pretty dang good!

from a game design perspective, any time a mission in any game can be auto failed abruptly, it's going to be significantly less desirable. yes you can adapt but doesn't make the process any smoother. add that to the list of things you need to know to ensure it goes well and the fact the most new people introduced to mh are world meaning less experience overall to them meet an abrupt wall and its pretty understandable why there's a divide. both sides have people that overreact to the opposing opinions of alatreon which just makes the whole dilemma even worse to read through

The only part of the fight I don't like is that you're expected to kill it shortly after you break both horns, because otherwise you won't be able to prevent it from going to the other side of the active. So for example ice > dragon > ice > dragon (both horns break at this point) > ice > dragon > it will go into fire and you won't be able to prevent it, and you can't go back and change weapons. They should've made it so that you can farcaster once both its horns are broken (maybe its power weakening enables you to retreat) Other than that it's actually a fun fight, I failed the quest like 20 times before I managed to solo it though lmao.

I can understand GS or Gunlance mains complaining that the elemental checks are siginficantly harder to meet with their weapons. I can understand someone thinking that Fatalis' damage output is a bit overtuned when compared to the rest of the game. But too fast?? Fatalis is one of the slower monsters in the game, probably only outpacing Vaal Hazaak and phase one of Shaara. Alatreon is very similar to Kushala in terms of speed, and Kushala was the second slowest of the four elders of the base game. And don't get me started on "Elemental weapons don't allow me to express myself in my build" like bro, you go on the quest, and you hit the monster; express yourself in your playstyle; noones gonna judge you by your build as long as the monster dies! But if you fail it over and over, and blame the game for it, people will look at your build, and see that you don't follow the opportunities the game gives you. Alatreon is such a well designed fight. A veried moveset that can be learned if paying attention, and a mechanic that forces you to stay on the offense. The arena is circular, so the monster can't push you into awkward corners, it has ledges to mount or play aireal and walls that allow you wallbang of you mind your positioning. Aside from tracking, every mechanik that Monster Hunter excels at is present. I feel rewarded for such a fight, and I will never understand the hate.

Doing jumping wide slash 3 times on the arms clears the element check easily with a frostcraft setup while doing great dmg, I'd say that's a good matchup

Nah it'd beyond easy as fuck to topple him with GS. Use AT Velk armor, then Frostfang or Lavisioth GS depending on his starting mode, and just play crit draw. It's not peak damage but toppling him takes a hand full of draw attacks, which are very easy to pull off in-between his attacks. Or just run the Meta GS (Also AT velk armor), Use Fatalis's GS and kill him with raw damage. If you're halfway decent with the weapon, you can kill him before the second Escaton consistently. If you're really good, you can kill him before the first. The thing with Alatreon is each weapon has different modifiers to how much they deal to the topple. GS has the highest since it does abysmal damage with elements. So it really doesn't to topple him with it. Gunlance is the weapon that gets shafted the hardest since shelling doesn't deal elemental damage. So half their entire kit is completely useless.

Gunlance was the only weapon with which I had consistent issues to clear the check (because I absolutely suck at swing lance)

so World was my first monster hunter. shocker there, right? whenever I fought a new monster I'd dedicate the fight to being solo, so if I ever end up fighting it with other people I can carry my own weight and keep up. Alatreon was definitely an uphill battle. so was Fatalis. but give the fights enough time and anyone can overcome them, it's just a matter of figuring it out. there was one time a guy was trying to trash talk me for whatever reason to a degree he started going through my profile. he saw my solo clear screenshots of Alatreon and (probably? I can't remember when this was) Fatalis and he immediately said "oh nvm I'm not gonna back talk that" and it sorta made me look back at all that I've done throughout my journey in World and feel more confident in both my own ability, and everyone else. seriously, if you're having troubles with a quest, just dust yourself off because those palicoes are not gentle when they bring you back to camp, and keep trying. quest failure isn't something to be ashamed of, it just shows that you have more room to improve and become an even greater Hunter.

I did my FIRST Alatreon solo because I didn't have friends who would/could do it with me and I hate playing with randoms in games by principle. Took me about 40 attempts with LIGHT BOWGUN, but I got it. Partbreaker, Special Ammo Boost, and the pure Lunastra LBG gave me access to both Rapid Fire and Ice on the same weapon. It was a study on simply not getting hit and never missing, but I pulled it off and grabbed my absolute favorite weapon in the game, the Alatreon LBG with every single elemental rapid fire. Now all I do on MHW is help friends or do SoS's with another friend who reached endgame.

I have yet to see ANY negative comment about the Alatreon fight that doesn't come down to the commenter having a major case of SKILL ISSUE or just some arbitrary (often contradicting) bullshit, like whinning about having a fight were elemental weapons are recommended. It's not uncommon for it to be both, considering the amount of losers who complain about the Farcaster restriction preventing them from just playing around mantle cooldowns with infinite heals and sidestepping the elemental switch mechanics for free.

the only thing i dislike about alatreon is it forces an elemental DPS style- not all weapons excel in that (greatsword especially). i never personally had issues with alatreon using bow but i will definately admit its just a skill issue that i cant do it with other weapons solo. still more fun than rajang tho- anything is more fun than rajang, (even if rajang is easier)

There's hidden element modifiers for all the weapons and greatsword won't need to hit as many times as dual blades to ele.topple (usually just one before the escaton judgement). You'll conquer bro 💪

So many times when people complain about difficulty they’re just admitting to the fact that they lack patience and or get frustrated / mad easily. I’ve definitely gotten frustrated at souls like games before, and monster hunter as well. But instead of trying to defend an ego made of glass and complain on the internet by just saying “game bad” I use that frustration to learn the game. People who say “skill issue” are on the opposite side of this coin. They have inflated egos, and just devolve the conversation further. You develop skill by practicing. some things are easier for others, but you can still reach their level if you want to practice. Whining and complaining because your ego got hurt is just you stunting your own growth as a player or any other skill in real life. The human brain does a lot of self sabotaging in the guise of “self preservation”.

Rise HH is by far and away the most fun it's ever been. Performance modes + silkbind attacks + the new combos just work together insanely well. Rise is the main reason I ended up loving Hammer (Courage mode) , GS (Surge Slash) and HH more recently after pretty much just being an IG and Swaxe user throughout all of World/IB. I actually think most weapons are at their best in Rise tbh, there's definitely some experimental stuff going on but I do hope Switch Skills come back in Wilds as a main gameplay feature. ​They made so many weapons more mechanically deep and overall more enjoyable. @@hoenam4045

I get why people don't like the fight, because a lot of times you can't use your favourite weapon and have to use some elemental one instead, plus certain moves are way worse to use. But at the same time so many players are braindead and don't even bother to listen to the NPCs. I like to play pierce HBG against Alatreon since I can always end the fight shortly after the first judgement, but randos are so difficult to rely on to get the topple so most of the time I just use my DBs instead. Which I don't mind, but when I have HunterPie on I can see how often players absolutely got carried through the special assignment. They don't even crack 10 DPS when you need like 30+ to finish in time before the judgements kill you.

I get the feeling that a lot of the people complaining saw Alatreon has at least one star weakness to dragon at all times and used that. I can say firsthand that trying to clear Escaton with dragon element is MISERABLE. Your best dragon hitzone for half of each encounter is practically nonexistent (2 in both Fire and ice active - so no ele damage) and then when you’re at dragon active it jumps up to painfully mid (14) Tldr don’t use dragon against alatreon, just use the element that counters the starting phase and break horns, I promise it’s not as hard as it sounds

GS in safi is perfect, on kulve I usually used a lbg or HBG ont the first phase and melee on the last phase

game issue more like gamer issue the fight it has been done solo many times even by first timers his attacks are not fast (clearly the guy never fought a barioth) are also pretty easy to read them and does not have the same "bait" as fatalis when it comes to attacks as for diff range of the hunter he has at least 2 types of attacks a new hunter will never reach a chain topple either by elem or by dmg its so hard even the endgame builds will lack this strategy of dealing with alatreon, on top of that early game theres like 2 weapons which can reach a 2nd elem topple on him 1 is charge blade and the other dual blades, wall bangs and "air" bangs on alatreon are literally an rng dont use the same build as anything else you use elem builds to negate a certain death from escaton you can build for fortify and sruv build as not all weapons have the same elem output so for a new player that may be hard to do but for sure dont jus sit back and do it for 20+ min as some fights like fatalis will require you to deal dmg within 30min faint every 10min sit in camp to get the food buff ... why do you even play the game

Tbh ruiner is easy. I’m not even good at the game, I haven’t even beaten Alatreon yet, and I had to call an S.O.S for Fatalis, can’t even solo a raging Brachydios, but Ruiner is super easy for me.

yes, alatreon is hard, but he is basically one of the last monsters in the game, so it's normal for him to be hard, plus the element thing is pretty unique. i'm not a good player, i'd say that i'm at best average, yet i soloed each monster in the game (besides Safi-jiiva cuz safi is a pain in solo)

As an LS main with about 800 hours on the weapon, you did very well for a weapon you don't know. i beat alatreon solot with a safi switch axe (only one element boost augment) and no agitator, critical boost, or fortify. literally skill issue if you cant beat him lmao

Alatreons easy with any weapon as long as you know what you are doing because I’ve beaten him with HH solo and it was pretty easy but I got low often due to HH being more support than movement or damage
