I've been doing starting strength for about 6 months while doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and damn is it hard to keep up with both. Just feel beat up constantly and tendonitis like a MF. Deload weeks don't seem to help much but my strength is going up quite a bit. Did 5 reps with my 1rm deadlift from 4 weeks ago and it felt like an rpe 8.

If by "doing starting strength" you mean the linear progression, maybe you have ran it out. On top of that, it's really hard to keep up with the "ideal" LP (linear progression) while doing extenuating activities, because it hinders your recovery to keep up with "THE PROGRAM". Have you read the book?

Also, RPE is not usually considered in the strict program.

LP should be over after 3-4 months if you do it exactly right ...if you have pain you subjecting yourself to too much stress btw

Hey man. I’m in a similar situation to you. I find I need to take a day off from training after I roll. If I hit the barbell the day after a roll then the next day I’m wrecked. Not enough days in the week to get enough days under a bar, days on the mat and days recovering. Not sure what the answer is because I don’t want stop either

I doubt that correct endurance training is a detriment to her MMA career. I like Rip and appreciate his competence but he's a little off when it comes to endurance and cardiovascular training.

You don't even train distance running with distance running, you do it with intervals. I have no idea where all this shit comes from but it's utterly retarded.

And still coaches in martial arts today don't consider weight lifting as an enhancement of performance.

the idea that Endurance training would be detrimental to mma training is really only true if you are currently at the level where you can go a hard 5 minutes then rest 60 seconds and repeat enough to go 3 (and if you want to really excel) 5 times.... then again I don't know what endurance training she is talking about, she might be talking marathons and then yah that is not going to benefit at all really. I like that she is training in Greco tho because there is no real path for women to get anywhere with Greco which means her opponents likely will not be prepared for her skills in that area.

She gets endurance training just by sparing and doing technique drills, she like does not call that stuff endurance training though.

You’re correct I was referencing more so running for distance or time. I enjoy marathon training but it doesn’t make me a better fighter. My mile time isn’t going to make me a better fighter, however if I get stronger and produce more force (lift) that makes me a better fighter. 🐼💜

How can conditioning be a detriment to someone who may need to spend multiple minutes fighting? That's not to invalidate anything else she said, for she's admirably dedicated to what she does. But I don't see a "sprinkle" of conditioning training yo be a detriment to a fighter. If she can take em out in under a minute or so, I understand

She has a good looking handsome face, a distinctive look. And it is captured by beautiful, full bodied black hair. She should be a movie star, not fighting. That is my personal opinion and my opinion only. If she's happy doing what she's doing then maybe it's her rightful calling.

She supplicates at the alter of iron. No imaginary being can give her greater strength than her will combined with the iron. To paraphrase, "... friends (both real and imaginary) will come and go, but 200 pounds is always 200 pounds."

@P C "seemed" is the operative word. I'm sure your noble Norse ancestors felt they were doing the right thing. We know now that such pursuits are fruitless and take away from more important things such as training; especially weight training. All hail the Iron.
