I used to work in IT security for a large bank. We constantly scanned for variations of our domain name that would be impersonating our bank. Occasionally we would find one, would contact the Registrar and hosting company, and take the site down. Sometimes we would also buy the domain and park it so that no one else could use it in the future.

@@floriannsabiyumva9621 Look at what skills people are looking for in your area. Most people are wanting CompTIA Security +, read up about compliance standards like ISO/IEC 18043, ISO 22301, and ISO 28000. Then just practice, practice practice. As a sys/network admin you should have some under your belt but ask your boss to see if you can be part of projects that help build your cyber security. I don't know when you did your school project, but a lot of the stuff you did will be out of date. Build a home lab,, I suggest to build a cloud network on AWS and a build a cloud network in Azure and then simulate attacks against each network and try and defend against those attacks. Use Kali Linux, and Windows clients, get your hands on as many different security systems as you can. Once you get in the industry then focus on the systems you need to do on your job. But still handy to keep those other skills handy. Lastly network, talk to recruitment companies, go to events, speak to industry experts, see if someone can mentor you. Cyber Secuirty is one of the hardest jobs to get into because there is only so many junior roles, but is also one if the most high demand jobs especially the further you go up the ladder. Wish you luck bud.

This last scammer was quite interesting. Reading between the lines, it looks like he is not a "professional scammer". He needed high quality cables and this was the cheapest way to get a good quantity of them. That's why he wasn't so angry about it: he tried, it didn't work out, he will succeed at the next try. He doesn't rely on scams for living, it's just a way to get low cost material for his business activity. He knows the police in the USA or Gambia will ever move a finger for this. Safe crime.

The plan would've been to strip those cables of their insulation and sell the copper. They'd have made quite a bit of money doing that. Great vid.
@ebutuoy4811
@ebutuoy4811 2 ай бұрын
There is hardly any copper in those internet cables. It would literally be the worst thing you could ever think of to get copper out of, they are probably about 95% plastic and would be so much work to retrieve the copper. Why order something with such a little amout of copper in if that is the case, when you can make a order with something that is 100% copper.

I get e-mails for these scams daily. My impression is that part of the scam is that they want the shipper to use their courier service and for the shipper to pay for that courier service and bill them a combined charge. I've been tempted to come up with some story about how all or our sales are for highly secure equipment covered by export controls and how we can only sell to companies on a pre-approved list issued by the government.

This is definitely one of the more "professional" scams to surface, it seems. The "electiric" email would've probably fooled me, in all seriousness. It's a very subtle typo that would probably go past most people, since the rest of the name looks good enough, and it seems they have lots of the wording down (or at least did a modicum of research on what terms to use to "fit in"), but then it falls apart with the typical "Kindly" and "okay" sentence structures... If they fixed that, it'd be scarily convincing to the average person. Interesting new thumbnail btw. Are you moving away from featuring yourself in the thumbnails?
