Fighting Deception & Demonetization: Launching my new Label, Shop & CDs

In this video, I am giving you an update about what was going on behind the scenes in the recent year. It was a year of many challenges that eventually led me to create amazing things. I share the story of two major setbacks (demonetization by KZbin and a place with millions of visitors making me lose a big amount of money), and how I overcame them and turned these challenging situations into something meaningful: the start and creating of my own independend music label, our shop, CD production and a new KZbin channel. I share some of the lessons I learned along the way and show ways to deal with such things for everyone who may be facing similar challenges. We also introduce you to our products and our plans for the future.

@@Tundra. Yes, i'm blaming something specific, a system that doesn't incentivise good quality and artistic expression, but instead variants of content that are produced en masse. The difference is that my criticism is specific and not a conspiratorial blame-game. There is noone watching over the algorithm to decide which content they don't like, the algorithm at this point is engineered towards profit. Companies have no ideological commitments, they only want profit. We don't live in a world were humans decide, most decisions come down to an increased reliance on artificial intelligence. And yes, when it comes to economics, analyzing the structure of the economy might me be most useful thing, especially when it comes to issues all big tech-companies have.

Blessings and prayers are not always answered in the way we expect. Be thankful, you've had the Sactum site for several years and have procrastinated. Many of us have waited patiently. Although this was painful it helped you get off your arse :). Been there done that! Abnomition out of love for what you do. As an online seller I give you this further advise. Offer your music in mp4 or other digital format. CD's are dying and the market is diminishing. Offer both but I promise sales will increase offering digital format ( I would buy today! Don't need nor want to add to my dusty CD collection). The other benefit is reduced mfg. expenses and shipping cost can be virtually eliminated, satisfy your audiences immediate desire. I can't help noticing that the phrases Patrick Lenk uses to describe his music - "searching within for truth", "promoting inner growth", "meaningful inner work that supports your well-being and helps you thrive", and so on - are straight from the vocabulary of New Age. The music which he monetizes, however, comes from a religion which has never taught that truth can be found within if one just looks hard enough (with or without the help of Sanctum accessories). It would be an upright thing to do to acknowledge that somewhere. Whatever religion it is that he subscribes to, it seems that "inner growth" and "inner peace" are put on a pedestal there and worshipped as gods. In the end, what's really worshipped there is Me, Myself & I. It's the spiritual branch of modern-day individualism.

@@katedevoy I dislike the extreme conservatism when it comes to LGBT-people and i'm not fond of big institutions, although my favorite theologian is orthodox (David Bentley Hart). There is a lot of beauty in orthodoxy, as well as in catholicism, so i'm thankful for your comments. But i don't think, that christianity and big conservative institutions are compatible. I wish for proto-communist community like the early church, were the church and a canon of scripture wasn't set as an absolute and the Holy spirit was flowing without being hindered by a legalistic approach to scripture and tradition. Personally I would prefer to pay for and download high quality audio (same as CD). This should be an option on the website - especially as the CDs are out of stock. MP3 is ok but not good enough for a decent setup. Its also an easier supply chain as its all digital.

It's a pity that you had such disagreements with Holy Mother Church. Without justifying these dishonest attitudes, it's too big. But I assure you that there is much more than those people, and people, Catholics, priests, religious who admire your music and work. If the cathedral wanted to pipe your music for free, why didn't they just use your live streams? That's so weird that they would request so much extra? Especially when getting anything like that financed has to go through so many people. I would like to think the cathedral wasn't being malicious, but that the penny pushers in the board screwed things up like they always do.

It is illegal to commercially utilize music without paid licensing, otherwise it is stealing. In that case, the artist who creates music for a living does not get fairly compensated for their hard work.

@@TrinityElle Streaming KZbin is not illegal though, even in a church setting. Churches and Cathedrals aren't "commercial". The artist is paid through KZbin, and even if they aren't, you can't sue someone for streaming it. Unless the church was literally going to sell the music or use it to make their own product and sell it, they can use it to stream in their building at anytime. Same as bars and Restaurants. Bars aren't paying royalties on music they play, not do they have to pay extra fees to have KZbin or even cable tv on.

@@TrinityElle it absolutely is true. KZbin is a platform media. There is absolutely nothing stopping churches, bars, and Restaurants from using anything on there. Just like anything on tv and cable. Do you really think when you go to a bar or restauant when music is playing that the company called the artist or the record company and asked permission and paid royalties to play it. Rotfl. No. They at the most have a buisness account with the cable company but i assure you, no they don't get the original artists permission. My dentist even uses KZbin and Spotify. I suggest you read the fine print in your KZbin legal consent file.

Of course, everybody is able to steal if they want to, but that is their choice. We worked directly with a Music lawyer for this process, so we are well aware of what is legal and what is not in this matter.

In your disappointment with the Catholic church, it might help to remember that the monumental labor of thousands of years of composing and preserving most of the music you’re making money from was undertaken specifically for that same church by men living under a vow of poverty. Whoever backed out of the deal you drew up has also probably taken that vow. You don’t have to live like a monk, but you should be aware of the fact that much of what you expect the church to pay you for is its own intellectual property. Also, having your music play all day every day in a place like that would give you a ton of exposure without much effort. I’m sorry you were mistreated.

Brother, I don't understand why did you think that you can sell your music to the church. I guess if you are feeling cheated by holy Church for not being payed for your beautiful music you are wrong. You shouldn't be. But you will be rewarded by God. Please ask yourselves did Jesus and his disciples, the saints and the martyrs got paid for their work, that they had done? Even gospel of Mathew chapter 6 :5 - 6 says that do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to arrange and pray in synagogues and at the streets corners so that the may be seen by others. Truly I tell you they have received their rewards. But whenever you pray go into your room and shut the door and pray to the father who is in secret and your father who sees on secret will reward you". And I'm telling this because I am getting this rewards very often. Which is priceless. And I thank you Jesus, all glory to you.

Excuse me... Do you get paid for the work you do? Why should you tell another person their work should be free? How do you think he should pay rent, living costs, food, clothing, car, insurance, recording equipment?! Should he be homeless? And if so would you be able to sit here benefiting from and enjoy his music “for free” commenting below about your opinions? Even priests get paid by donations from the church. And this cathedral for instance brings in millions of dollars and pays them quite well. They can afford to pay anyone who does work for them because everybody has the right to compensation for their work. It is unbelievable to me how entitled commenters below these videos can be. Sitting here enjoying free music while telling Patrick what he should do and that he should work for free. And I promise that none of you are working for free unless you’re living off of someone else’s money.

@@TrinityElle when I do any work for my god like services I almost try to hide it from people seeing it. I am like this since almost two years because a deliverance retreat had almost changed me. I know that their small reward is nothing compared to the time, energy and money that I invest. When I am rewarded I know I am loosing the reward from my father in heaven. Moreover he gave me the power and knowledge to do this as I can. I sometimes wonder, there are a lot of people in the earth who are handicap, crippled, or in chronic diseases who wished to do a small help to there parents who looks after them. Could you say that they will be payed for their work?. If I am supposed to do something even when someone sees it I try to glorify God as I can silently because I wish to give glory to God and not to me. And by that I had realised often that a powerful invisible hand helps me and make the work simpler and control all evil power which could have destroyed it. As 2 Corinthians 2:17 says for we are not t peddlers of god's word like so many but in Christ we speak as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from god's and standing in his presence". So I tell everyone here don't try to market god and his gifts or else it will happen to you as it has happened to Simeon in Acts of the apostle 8:18-.
