Why did they change Nanase to Sanane?

SPOILERS Sanane is a distant relative to Kairi, Hokuto/Shirase, and Nanase. Feeling she should settle things with Kairi once and for all, with only one of them alive and the other dead, Hokuto opted to use the Seal of Blood to settle things with Kairi but opted to have Nanase's memories altered by making her "Hokuto" while the real Hokuto renamed herself to Shirase. Don't know why she abducted Sanane and altered her memories to use Nanase's moves.

@@AzureSymbiote As I argued elsewhere, Arika should have rebooted the EX trilogy instead of giving it a sequel because a plot twist like this can only be possible for games with stories made in the 2000s, not 1990s games were the stories were restricted to supplementary material.
