This is especially the case when everyone is rushdown because every character has like 50,000 different ways to mix you up so getting hit means a very very high chance of getting touched again and dying.

I've always felt like archetypes (can) fail when you compare characters of the same "archetype" from different games. Like, I'm a grappler main mostly and with that I mean I like Zangief, Potemkin, Q, Big Band and so on. So when I look at a new game I usually go for that kind of character. But when it comes to some games ( mostly the faster, air focused ones) I fail to find a "grappler" that works for me, DBFZ being the game that comes to mind first, though do keep in mind I have like at max played it for like 2 hours with a friend. Rushdown is also a weird one, if you like rushdown characters and you come from your dbfz's or your melty bloods I'm guessing finding a "rushdown" character that satisfies your thirst for unga bunga and beeg combos in a game like street fighter a bit challenging. Edit: I added the (can) part cus I realized I was doing the same thing I was complaining about

As someone who played Dark Souls 1 with a offhand curved sword *specifically* to bait people into attacking so I could parry them, and similarly used similar things in Dark Souls 3 to just be hyper aggressive without shields, yes, I do play rushdown, especially with characters who aren't actually meant to rushdown. Rushdown Ganondorf? Sure! Rushdown Big Band? Parry! Rushdown Android 16? Get over here you pansies! Rushdown Oleander? As a grappler enjoyer, I have fallen in love with Leo in Strive... like, I know he's not a grappler, per se, but he does the gameplan even better than Pot imo. Once you go into Brynhildr, you have access to the thing I like to call the, "Oops, you chose to x" series. He has, "Oops, you to chose to (press buttons, not press buttons, stand block, crouch block, jump, not jump, backdash, block left, block right, put down your fucking stick)." I understand that the flying power bomb is more of a conditioning tool than a damage option. I do not care. I am a grappler at heart. I have ruined the Leo mental matchup for who knows how many people.

I will never understand why people mention other characters in GG but not “ CHIPP “ when it comes to rushdown CHIPP is the fastest, purest, trajillion percent rushdown property character. And yet no one mention him when they talk about Rushdown characters. Chipp is always 1 of the best example when it come to rushdown. He has all the thing rushdown player crave for, teleports, light speed normal, wall plays, air mobility, zipzoom moves, god rekka and more.

@@Ouryuu-Zenokun Sol doesn't have the Mix-Ups to play rushdown. If you keep attempting pressure with him you'll get ass blasted. Sol is all about conditioning and reads, then confirming into big damage. There's a reason none of the best Sol players play him like a rushdown character.

A bit of advice from someone who doesn't know much fighting game lingo: Could you explain what +[insert number here] means in a future video? I know it has to do with frame data but idk exactly what. Like at 4:51 you say a +4 move can only be beaten by a move with 2 frame or less startup, so... why 2? Where are the numbers coming from exactly? Also what does it mean if someone "spams light"??? This is the only episode so far that hasn't explained some of the vocab so good job avoiding that with the previous videos. I like the series so far!

+4 means that the character with the advantage can move 4 frames earlier then the other. Now to explain the next part, light means the characters jab, usally the fastest attack option. Fighting game moves have startup frames and active frames. Active frames being when your attacks can make contact with your opponent. So if a move has 2 start up frames its active at frame 3, In DBZ jab/light has a 6 frame start up so when Bardock is +4 and hits jab/light, and you press jab/light as soon as you can, Bardock will always hit you 3 frames before your move comes out. So the only way to hit him is if you have a move that comes out after 2 frames or 1 frame. At 2 frames you hit each other at the same time. At 1 frame you hit him first.

Rushdown doesn't necessarily have mixup that is difficult to block and high damage, for example, Dictator just chip kills your whole heath bar, and Cammy doesn't even have an overhead, the only way she breaks your guard is throwing which is not high damage. Rushdown distincts from other archetypes by having continuous pressure tools with small commitment.
