One of my favorite training mode adjacent things is that in Guilty Gear XX +R you can hop into training mode while watching a recording of a match and figure out different outcomes for the same situation. Wish more games had that.

Question how to do that ? I'm a newbie in the game and fg in general

@@Thee_Znutz on the main menu go into 'replay' and choose the replay of the match where the situation you want to test out occurred, and during the replay you can pause and choose to take control, then the point you took control becomes like a save state, where you're controlling yourself, the opponent is doing the exact same things they did during the match, and now you can try and deal with their shit and use the reset button to load state. very useful against more complex characters where you're just kinda fucked if you want to replicate what they did to you so you can learn how to counter it but you have no idea how to play that character

Training mode is by far one of my favorite parts of fighting games, nothing feels cooler then just experimenting with the game, and it’s even better when it works out in a real game

Even in the best of times, Training Mode is like if you're studying for a test and the only advice you have is, "It's somewhere in the book, go find it."

When it comes to practicing Fighting Games, I feel like a mission mode/combo trial system helps a lot more. It gives new players an idea of where to begin and how to approach combat as this character. And from there it's much easier to jump into training and start experimenting. I haven't touched most of the characters in Strive because of this, while in Xrd I at least tried every characters combos to see whose playstyle I liked

And then there is Smash where the community has to mod the game to even see if a combo is true. Really with smash would finally add some support to the competitive scene

The only thing that keeps me from being able to utilize training mode is recreating scenarios. Specifically escaping pressure. Which means I have to record the opponent's pressure, which I often am not able to do because I fizzle out. Really wish I could implant a recording into training mode kinda like GGAC+R
