i thought most rock climbing gyms pretty much had crash mat like flooring to avoid this exact situation from happening
@paulblight74187 ай бұрын
They do but it won't save you from a two story drop
@trh-bee43837 ай бұрын
For top rope or lead climbing, the pad is useless. Bouldering has thicker pads at the gyms since you’re meant to jump down.
@h2ofire616 ай бұрын
For the ones I've climbed at, only the bouldering gyms have crash mats. You don't need a crash mat if you have a rope.
@Riv3rrubia_196 ай бұрын
Most rock climbing centres have crash mat flooring in the bouldering section (without a harness).
@itsCronch6 ай бұрын
Can agree with others in this thread. The climbing gym I go to has mats for bouldering but basically concrete for roped. All in the hands of a good belayer :)

I’ve seen it at my climbing gym. It’s a nasty thing but even with the safest climbs after so many years you’re almost guaranteed to see it just as a matter of statistics

I used to sprain my ankle a lot. It was a problem with my posture, my weight, lack of exercise and wrong shoes.

Right, like an MRI would make sense. I think it's cause he didnt hit his head
@michaelwang64152 ай бұрын
Well the MRI would 100% make sense, but I think when they saw him showing signs of memory loss and confusion. They probably assumed he hit his head and wanted to see if there was any neurological damages with speech or facial expressions. But his friend who caught him said that he didn't hit his head since he physically caught him. So, I'm pretty sure they ruled that out, they most likely still did an MRI, but it was probably off-screen.

He could have been checking for fibrillation. Probably not what the writers were going for considering most medial dramas use defibrillators when the patient is flat lining, and basically never show depictions of fibrillation.

My sister goes to climbing. They have a matrasse or a tatami to prevent accidents. Also since the walls are not too high they don't have a partner and they throw themselves off the wall on their back. I found that weird but since the highest wall is below 10m.

@LilyGrace956 ай бұрын
I was wondering that too. Obviously automatic belays exist, but that very clearly wasn't the system they had there, so he shouldn't have had a taught line... Really weird.
@woofberry4 ай бұрын
Because in order to ensure the safety of the actor, they unfortunately couldn’t *actually* have him not be on belay while also not being clipped in. They need him to be on belay irl in order to have him fall in a realistic way while also ensuring the safety of the actor, at least until they cut to the stunt guy.

By the fact it's a TV show lol. There's an episode of House where a woman offers House $50,000 to work out why she's suddenly hearing with her eyes. Majority of the KZbin comments are along the lines of "the most unrealistic part of this is that she thinks this can be done for $50,000"

Dislocated ankles can look like that, since the Talus and Calcaneus(bones of the ankle) are a synovial joint rather than a single piece. If it dislocated and doesn't slip back in that's entirely possible.
