Grew up in Bellevue in Bulawayo and went to school with George and his brother . Crossed paths with George a few times during my Support Commando days . Last time I saw George his chopper dropped my stick and self into a very hot LZ . Good to see him again . Regards

@@georgebushney6504 Russell became an earh moving mechanic as I did and when I left East London he was still hard at it working for himself . Do no think he knows what the word retirement is

After aircraft I also got into heavy earth moving overhauled Detroit 2 strikes and Allison automatic Did not like the job went to Nissan and soon became dealer Principle really enjoyed that job

Great interview as always and especially with all the different arms and establishments within the Rhodesian armed forces. The Air Force was one of the true unsung heros of our war. Thanks for the great story

Courageous men in their flying machines , formidable pilots in 7 squadron , brilliant techs with hearts of lions . Fearless in the face of adversity ! The blue jobs had it tougher than most think . Great interview, George. I remember that contact very well where Beef was so tragically KIA - R.I.P Beef. So, too, are the skills, and bravery of the highly professional military vehicle and weaponry engineers, communications technicians, and ground crews, that enable others to perform essential tasks, to the best of their abilities. Without such men and women, the whole she-bang soon becomes SNAFU.
