2:30 A historian called Ernst Nolte, a German conservative, became the first serious writer to attempt a history of 3 fascisms: 1) Nazism, 2) Mussolini's fascism, 3) the fascism of a failed right wing group called Action Francaise. *The Three Faces of Fascism* -- with an assumption that there was a fascist era and now it's over with.

What about the Japanese fascism?
@channelsandy Жыл бұрын
@@clivesmith9377 It wasn't. It was waaaay more complex. It displayed some of the markers of fascism, industrial military union, hyper gender roles, even racism and camps, but its roots are in the decision to transform the nation in just a short time. They argued they were anti colonial and "liberating" asia while their field commanders committed atrocities. There was no single leader either, just a collection of military and industrial leaders in competition. The emperor was largely powerless, the army and navy fought each other for power. You can read all sorts of letters showing the dysfunction of this and the rather lawless state of the units in the field. For a good history, listen to Dan Carlin's six-part podcast Supernova in the East. He does a good job of synthesizing recent scholarship into a detailed sing narrative.

@@frederickarchibaldchumly-w2163 it's just frightful, fall in line pandering. The funny thing is I've only seen 3 videos from this institution mainly to see Sabine but I was just watching one on TV where the argument they were exploring had to do with scientists peer reviewing each other's trash science in order to push it through then some philosopher said something about science being ineffective when it was only middle aged white men and he was a middle aged white man and my thought was what does this have to do with anything? So o came to comment on that and all I saw was that every other video is something about trash leftist media ideals. Progressive trash that is anti evidence based science...

i thought about downvoting the video for grossly misidentifying the timing of the fascist take over in the US. The fascists clearly made progress from 1933 when Senator Prescott Bush et al. attempted to hire Smedley Butler to lead a march on washington dc to the time Prescott's hired man Nixon was president to the time Prescott's son was president to the time his grandson was president and they started their ficticious war on terror to stir anti-muslim sentiment in the west, simultaneously building support for their atrocious wars and propping up their investments with the war profiteers

"Global fascism" is an oxymoron, like "clean homosexual" or "smart woman". Fascism, simply put, is the spiritual worship of the nation-state...of which the "globe" couldn't possibly constitute. You _could_ live in a fascist world with many competing fascist nations but, you cannot unify a diverse collection of nations under one, single fascist regime. By nature, it's a diverse application of that statism to individual nations and their majorities.

I am not sure it is helpful to consider fascism in terms of left/right ideology. This video should be less focused on the characteristics and taxonomy of fascism and more to do with fighting it. I think it is inaccurate to say that fascism is not compatible with list-wing ideology but typically we see a right-wing ideology transform into fascism. There could be an argument and discussion about how left-wing ideology is vulnerable to transforming into fascism. For example, there may be many perspectives which align “wokism” with fascism, in that in many ways it seems like a rejection of objectivity and intellectualism (even though many will recognise its foundations in academia). I am not sure that this could be considered a transformation into fascism, but it may be what you have in mind.
