Bleeding IS a sign of ebola, especially bleeding from the GI tract, nose, and mouth--it is a hemorrhagic fever. This kind of misinformation further complicates situations like this, where traditional culture clashes with the unknown, and causing any other type of confusion among people already bewildered is an appalling lack of professionalism.

OMG!!! As if poverty is not enough. I remember the last time I was in West Africa the same thinking kept happening to me: What if there was an outbreak of an infectious disease how would the people fare? I wasn't thinking about Ebola exactly but just a general thought about an outbreak of any kind. Actually the main reason for my thinking was the terrible sanitation situation in some areas. In Guinea basically the sanitation system has completely collapsed and the worst is the inability of the local people to understand the need for a clean environment. So this Ebola outbreak may finally force the people to re think their entire approach to their living environment and the need to be aware of the dangers of eating different kinds of animal meat some of which could carry deadly diseases. In Liberia people actually thought they were immune to all the dangers of infectious disease. And to this day there are Guineans I know that seriously doubt the existence of Ebola. Imagine that for a second.

This is an example of how desperate they are for facilities and supplies, at least in some areas. If you have a building with, say 6 rooms; you need at least one for confirmed cases, one for suspected cases, someplace to stage the medical equipment,decontamination,and probably a few more for other various tasks. Then you have 20 confirmed ebola patients and several suspected cases. The county has only recently begin to rebuild from the civil war, infrastructure of any kind except mobile communications has been destroyed or badly in need of repair. Roads are more like dry riverbeds in most areas, Freetown is different, it being the capital and all. But even there electricity is not regular and people have to break open an existing water main to run water to a new building, leaving a leaky water utility system and areas in the road that bubble up water. But even as bad as that might sound the country is BEAUTIFUL, the people are the most wonderful, welcoming, honest,peace loving, and friendly folks I have ever met(and I have traveled around quite a bit).

UPMC Hamot security guards are now the hospital's first line of defense against the Ebola virus. Patients who want to enter Hamot's emergency department are asked to describe their symptoms at the department's security station. If they have fever, nausea, headache, diarrhea, muscle pain or weakness, they are then asked if they have traveled recently. "If they have been out of the country and have symptoms on the (Ebola) checklist, they are escorted right to our triage area," said Ferdinando Mirarchi, D.O., Hamot's director of emergency medicine. "They don't go to our waiting area." Erie hospitals are preparing for the possibility of treating Ebola patients, even though no Ebola cases have been diagnosed in northwestern Pennsylvania. Three people from the region are being monitored in Texas for the deadly viral disease after they flew on a Cleveland-to-Dallas flight with a nurse who later tested positive for Ebola. "We have been having meetings regularly with the (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) about Ebola," said Wayne Jones, D.O., Saint Vincent Hospital's director of emergency medicine. "We have retrained staff on the front end of our emergency department to ask questions about travel and symptoms." Saint Vincent is in the process of creating a station away from its ER waiting area where patients will be asked those questions, Jones said. Hospitals should be re-evaluating their procedures for dealing with Ebola patients, said David Dausey, Mercyhurst University's dean of the School of Health Professions and Public Health. "Ebola is a different type of illness," Dausey said. "Most hospitals are not used to dealing with an acute infectious disease with such a high mortality rate." The World Health Organization reported that about 50 percent of the people who contract Ebola die from it. Hospitals are also working with the CDC to ensure their staffs are protected when dealing with patients who might have Ebola. Saint Vincent will hold a meeting this week to inform staff about ways its parent organization, Allegheny Health Network, is standardizing and strengthening Ebola screening and patient triaging protocols. Those protocols include training nurses and physicians to wear appropriate protective equipment when treating patients who might have Ebola. That equipment may soon include wearing powered air-purifying respirator suits, known as PAPRs. "These are fluid-impenetrable full-body suits with a full hood with its own air source," Jones said. "We have them, though we haven't used them." Mirarchi said he is concerned that hospital ERs will be flooded this fall and winter with patients who have respiratory illnesses like influenza and think they have Ebola because they have similar initial symptoms. These patients could increase ER waiting times and cause more illnesses to be spread by overcrowding waiting rooms. "We saw it with the H1N1 outbreak when people were pouring into the ER with mild respiratory infections," Mirarchi said. I'm trying to gain understanding in something I don't know much about. Through simple reading one of the largest causes is streets flowing with sewage. Nigeria's capital is suppose to ripe for the outbreak due to this very condition which is surprising considering the amount of money they have from oil. That combined with all of the "tradition" mentioned in this video is going to a lot less food shortage. Nature balancing itself out.

In (I THINK) 1979, during the first Ebola outbreak, they did tried it and it successfully cured nearly 7-8 out of 10 patients who tried that treatment. But, they are unwilling to try it now even though the proof is there. CDC wants us all to die, outbreaks and diseases are "good" to them since we are so over populated.

Don't be too harsh on the lingo, it's pretty common for black kids to learn 2 or 3 languages before (if ever) picking up english in a lot of African countires. I mean I'm speaking from a South African perspective but a lot of my black friends learnt zulu and xhosa or shona before english. This guy probably knows french, an indigenous language or 2 and a bit of english. When confronted with a reporter with camera in tow I imagine words become a little tricky
