Best summer of my life. Pmc, mods and beautiful chatters! What an inspirational journey its been. Thank you for introducing us to these beautiful birds..packed full of character. Never forget Eggbert, and wee Stevie was everyone's fav. Jolene and Chief were such inspirational parents. Thank you PMC, thank you mods Sarah, Sue and Porter Cam. I will never forget this..see you all next year, and hopefully our babies return next year and start their own families. 💜💜💜

@@konghulk9497 It was actually Jolene, the female (bottom of the shot) that made the sound. You can tell which is her by the grey band around her neck - she's usually the one to be most defensive of the nest :)

Had to watch again. Maybe going through a bit of withdrawal. Loved seeing Jolene and Chief in the nest together and defending the babies or comfortable out of the rain. Jolene and her 'hackles' up was awesome. :) She was fierce! What great parents they were! I hope to see Jolene next year. Wouldn't it be something if she ended up with Chief again? Bon voyage to all! Major kudos to PMC crew and mod team, Sarah, Sue, and Porter Cam!!

Maybe someone can give me some advice as far as heat and Purple Martin colonies .We had both our house and gourd set up abandoned after a couple of days here .They moved to a huge old storm damaged oak in the woods .We live in South Alabama and it has been brutal this year and really hard on all our creatures out here in our wildlife habitats on our rural land .They did not leave even when a pair of Barn Owls took up residence in this tree .It is a very tall tree with no lower limbs and home to honeybees hives in some of the broken branches and huge yellow jacket nests underneath .There are no other trees except one even near the size of this one and it is a huge old Native Pecan about 100 feet away .There are a few streams and natural springs near it also .She did have to relocate the houses on her Bluebird Trail due to overheating to shadier areas .They all are doing great in the new locations she moved them to when the babies fledged .They went back to their old houses in shadier areas and have babies presently .Has anyone noticed the heat being an issue this year ? She is planning to move everything closer to the woods in suitable areas next season .They are doing great down there in the woods .It may be an old dying giant that has seen many a bad storm but the wildlife in and around it is amazing .When it eventually falls it will remain to provide even more wildlife value in it's demise .She says the tree still has a few good years left .She is a professional arborist /Dendrologist so would know .It isn't as bad as it looks and all dead or dying timber is left standing here for wildlife use .I am just curious as to if anyone else has noticed this being a problem .Any input would be helpful .The owls never bother the birds at this tree and have been known to even chase off Great Horned Owls here in their territory .It is quite amazing to watch these smaller owls go to war with the Great Horned Owls here .

Sorry I missed the premiere of the recap but it was a huge honour to follow Jolene, Ragnotha and the kids (including little Steve of course!) go from tiny little eggs to full-grown birds. I can't wait to see what happens next year, and you can bet I'll be there! I won't bore people with the details but these birds came along during a very hard time in my life and they've brought me nothing but joy. I will also try to maintain my Twitch subscription even though the streams are down now; every little bit helps, eh?
