Shane, you explained Tyson's head movement better in under 5 minutes than expertboxing could in 3 videos

I was taught to box by my uncle as a child, he always stressed defense first, said you achieved it through head movement and footwork to create angles and openings. Having known this for so long, it's second nature to me so this video came off a little bit elementary but in truth, it's not elementary at all, rather more of a base level fundamental. A fundamental that many high level pros do not train nearly enough in. Basically defense is an art of its own. Shane laconically breaks down some of the most crucial aspects of boxing / fighting in a matter of minutes. As always, nice job Shane!

Another excellent video, Shane. Thank you so much for this great head movement breakdown. I wonder if you could also do an intermediate video in which you explain some of the differences between the head movement in MMA and Boxing. Obviously, you can't bob or go as low in MMA, or you will catch a knee, but I lack the knowledge of grappling and how that would figure in to know other differences between the two, and would love to learn from you.

Awesome video, you could also add that Mike also did the peek-a-boo to engage, he used to (powerfully) step to the side slip and repeat. Imagine Mike in his prime waddling violently as you're missing every punch, each step he takes closer to you (and your ear)! Scary....

I noticed i find it easier to counter WHILE i slip rather than after, and use my punch to keep balance at the same time... Im not really good at it yet, but i usually land my best shots that way... Nice video Shane! One thing you left out is that you conserve energy when your hands are down, which I think is one of the best reasons to do it. BUT as any good coach will tell you, defend yourself at all times - we may want to think we are Mayweather, but we are not, and at the amateur level you will get punished hard for having your guard down.

Shane, hey man I really appreciate your videos and and I come from a family of boxers, my father who unfortunately passed away in 2010 I don't leave the age of I think 50 he was Golden Gloves somewhere around age 18 and he was Notorious I mean his reputation really preceded him. He was a big guy, he had a very loving heart very compassionate, but if you are on his bad side you would know it. He was cock strong, he had explosive power behind both his punches, he was a southpaw, and he was also a smart fighter who knew how to detach his emotions and fight using his mind. He wasn't really the ideal father figure, he became a big drug dealer and all kinds of crazy stuff and he had a very big deep voice in he was just very intimidating and when I was a kid there were many occasions where he would scream on me and I mean I would be trembling, I mean here's this guy who is basically a God to me, who everybody would tell me how badass he was and I watched him many times and his wife hit dudes one maybe two times and knock them completely out cold, but I remember he would embarrass me and he would humiliate me by hollering at me and I would look like a little puppy getting screamed at by its owner, and then I can remember I think I was in the 9th grade and I was with my first love my high-school sweetheart I guess you could say, and he had come pulling up and he was angry at me about something and I did not want him to embarrass me in front of my girlfriend and then he really did, he humiliated me and it's scarred me for the rest of my life. I've never lost a one-on-one fight, not because I'm a badass or anything, but IDK, I think my flight or fight part of the brain kicks in and I end up fighting rather than fleeing and flighting and running away. However, one problem I do have, is the very moment I feel like there's about to be a confrontation my heart begins to beat out of my chest, and my body literally begins to tremble and shake and I hate that I absolutely hate it I despise it and it's almost like there's nothing I can do about it. And I know psychology please a pretty important role infighting especially when you want to get in your account or your enemy's head, intimidation can play a big factor and can ultimately give someone that advantage to whip up on his opponent simply because he was able to break him down psychologically. I know that the best fighters are the ones who are most relaxed and completely calm and I think it has to do with the cortisone level in our bodies and how we can almost become so relaxed even in an atmosphere of intensity and an overwhelming thickness of chaos and emotions, but it makes the body become more loose giving you that confidence to basically dance better than the other dancer metaphorically speaking. Shane, why do I shake, why do I tremble, why does my heart begin to pound repeatedly 1000 miles a second? Is this something that can be overcome or is it something because of I guess feeling traumatized, it is something that I will just have to live with for the rest of my life? Could that scar be so deep that I can never pull myself out of it? I mean it's clearly seen right before I'm ready to get into an altercation that my body is a little shaky and I think that's my adrenaline, now I will say this, as soon as the first punch is swung and we exchange blows, all that fear and intimidation and the excit and the butterflies all disappear, but I really want to master being able to be confident in myself to the point I am absolutely calm and relax and I want to know how I can get into their head and shake them up a bit. I don't go looking for fights believe me I don't, but I live in Baltimore City and you can do your best to stay away from trouble but sometimes it seems like trouble will come and find you and it's in those times I want to be able to feel as if I'm in complete control of the entire situation. It's that fear of being absolutely humiliated that I can't overcome. Do you have any personal advice that might help me Shane? I would greatly appreciate it if you could just share with me anyting that you think would be beneficial. My name is Rick by the way just to properly introduce myself. Thank you for your videos they are always great. I hope to hear from you soon, thank you and take care bro.
