Isn’t the high guard’s primary purpose to catch the punches you do NOT see coming?

I don’t know about this one I find the classic demonstration in the beginning very natural, kind of like rotating to swing a bat. The idea of visualising it as a slap first and the pulling in the elbow feels a bit redundant

Always heard it refered to as Binoculars in Muay Thai lol. Dont really like the high guard when I'm going forward, but its useful when barrages come at you, crunch down just a little move back start moving bodies good I'm good set up the shot.

It's not my guard but I do appreciate guys who do this like yourself. It didn't take long to catch on I was fighting gravity with every strike while they're blocks fell into their moment for a good counter. And as it happens I did teach my son that for bare knuckle he should keep loose fists next to his temple for the feedback and a crappy cushion just in case.

The only reason I didn't keep it was getting pushed far enough that one day I wasn't able to spare the energy to keep them up, and suddenly the reason dad insisted upon a summer of belly dancing made a ton of sense lol

I'm not sure I buy kicks beating knees when the conditions hold. Who throws kicks from knee range? I do love the "teep beats all" though I'm definitely quoting that for my class.

Yall want another one? Go running like he say jug and then explote then when u start running again start to shadow box ( yes in the middle of no where in the street) don’t be ashamed if ppl are watching. Is one of the best things to do to gain stamina. 1: Jug for 5 minutes 2: Run as fastest as u can ( 1minute) 3: Shadow box ( yes in the middle of no where😈) And repeat the process until u really can’t no more. theres no reps or shit like that just do it until i can’t no more. Its gonna help u like crazy, i hope yall do it fr man its one of the best things to do. luv yall
