Though I completely agree with this outcome, I still feel like figure fight needs more criteria to go off of. It just doesn't really feel like there is enough that one figure has over the other. I get that that is some pretty vague advice, and that it is already hard to do this series, but I just think 1-2 more sections more could help the episodes/contests feel more fleshed out. Also, nice jab at Jobby, I always thought that "muto blood" thing was such a dumb explanation for monsterart's laziness.

When I was working on the concept of Figure Fight I really thought about how everything should be judged - two or more figures attempting for the same spot on the shelf. They need to be judged on the same category, and while some figures do better things than others. However, just because a figures trashes another in *one category* does not mean it's automatically better, so that's the scoring system. To look at everything as a whole by seeing which figure does what separate, then adding up the scores. Again, it's a tale of the tape video series; your personal favorite is what matters in the end. Sometimes *I* prefer the loser in the figure fight.

I gotta completely disagree with the sculpt section. Neca is more movie accurate, but MonsterArts just has so much more care and detail in the mold. If you pose it in a way were the seams are hidden by the camera, it looks like a shot from a movie. And on the note of paint: yes, MonsterArts has QC issues in the face. But how does Neca not suffer from much worse QC issues? As you said, a large number of figures lacked that Blue Wash entirely. That's not a matter of "oh, a good number of figures has the paint but has it in messy places", that's "some of these figures are incomplete and not painted completely at all". I see how the MonsterArts QC issues are a negative, but complete lack of a layer paint on a large portion of figures I feel is a much larger issue. Without that blue wash, the neca figure has a brown underbelly and a whole lot of unpainted plastic.

I honestly think the only reason why I would choose MonsterArts over NECA is because MA has that matte finish to the figure and makes it feel lifelike in my eyes, while the NECA has a glossy finish to it and it feels more like a toy a plastic cheap toy imo. But the only major downside is the major price gap, NECA is only $20-40 which is waaaaayyyy better for its size and look, the MA is in the $100-300, which is insane for it being the same size as a NECA, while the color palette can be questionable, it makes up for it in articulation and insane detail. Overall, I would honestly save up and buy a MA and if push comes to shove, ill settle for a NECA figure. I know that NECA has its diamonds, but I just have to find it.

Over the years ive grabbed all the SHMA Godzillas, except for the three Showa figures (I actually like the NECA versions) but I still have the NECA 2014 mixed with the rest. I'm not sure why but the plastic on mine isn't shinny or glossy like most, and actually fits perfect between SHMA 2002 and Shin figures. I thought maybe it was the version, but I remember getting mine back right went the movie came out in that crappy clamshell packaging at Toys R Us. I'm pretty sure he was a 1st production run, so maybe I just got lucky. My 24" though.....as much as I love him, it looks like he either just rose from the ocean or got smeared with oil. He's a shinny boi.

I just got into collecting these and I would go with Neca every time. SH godzillas fall apart everywhere, it's extremely annoying to the point that I wonder why anyone would buy more than one product from them. I have this one in the repaint, with the blue fins and mouth, and one leg, arm, and the tail falls off just through simple movement. I couldn't even pick up the figure without the tail falling off of the base, before I put a little super glue on the ball to tighten it up.

Great comparison. Googly eyes drive me nuts! Personally I like Godzilla without pupils so its an easy fix. The sloppy paint on Neca on teeth / snout is unacceptable. Monsterarts for the win.

Dude, How much did Neca pay you to give that review? The articulation on the SHMA version is far superior to the Neca version. Plus the face sculpt varies from figure to figure. My SHMA Godzilla doesn’t have bloody teeth or gums.

And you clearly didn't watch the articulation section to see the reasoning, and I *have yet* in the nearly 5 years since release seen an acceptable standard SHMA G14. The only ones who say theirs are fine post with pictures taken by potatoes... Or don't post pics.
