This video is aimed at beginners but there are other options (telemetry etc) that can be used if you want to monitor the battery in real time (as mentioned in the video). Thanks to all of you commenting about also using a LIPO voltage alarm on the model. That can be useful if... - You have one ;) - It is of decent quality, reliable and you know the voltage it sounds at - You remember to fit it (don't ask me how I know this!) - You have it selected for the right voltage/battery type - You can hear it on the model over the wind and prop/engine noise - You will be flying it close enough to hear it - You understand that batteries sag when using higher throttle so not fool proof - Lower C batteries (or old ones) sag a lot more so you need to allow for that I used to use a LIPO voltage checker back in my early heli days but, one or more of the reasons above, didn't work great for me. However, the methods shown work even when the above situations arise ;) Look after your batteries and you have more chance of getting the model back in one piece! Happy flying!

Yes such fun..... Useing lipo alarm and timer allowing head room with both works well, and then I forget that a lot of us haven't got quiet places to fly ,or great hearing or both !Many thanks 😉😎

good video, i use Flysky FSi6X and just about all my planes are fitted with a voltage collector sensor so i get real time pack voltage on the TX display

That is a good way to monitor the voltage. You can set an alert when the voltage gets too low on most radios too... Happy flying

Or we can put a $1 lipo alarm in it (that definitely works,) if there's room and ok cog ....... anything to save and extend battery life 😉😎

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never been a fan of battery alarms as they can be hard to hear, sound when the battery isn't actually empty or the pilot forgets to plug it in! A simple timer on the radio,, started by the throttle is far safer for new pilots in my experience... Happy flying

Really excellent tips, Lee! Thanks for the math! 😃 One idea if you have many models is to write it down in a small piece of paper and keep it in the battery bay. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

At first plan your flight route well. To avoid places where your model plane will get destroyed by president's order with rocket that cost 100x more than your plane.

Thanks a bunch got this video. I’m just starting out in fixed-wing fpv and I have a really basic model, so I don’t have a good osd yet. And I’ve always wondered how to figure that out. So thank you again for the great video.

I often use a little gadget from Aliexpress called 'ZMR low voltage warning light' it's like a little plastic pod with LEDs in it. I wire it into the power lead and fix it to the underside of the plane. When you plug in a lipo, it blinks the number of cells and then turns off. When the voltage drops to 3.6v it starts slowly blinking which you can see. I find it useful when I'm looking for a low tech solution😀😀

when i send planes out blindly i first see how long it lasts at full throttle and use that as my cruising speed max time. if there is a lot of energy left then i do some adjustments for the next time.

Haha awesome! Thank you for the video! Lol. I've been flying fpv quads for about 6 years now but always used osd voltage. I've been spoiled!

its cool for airplanes. you can make big ones that go really far for very little money if don't need to see what's going on while its in the air and wait to get the footage when it lands. it might get lost but its not that bad because it was cheap.

What about the good ol' lipo checker plugged into balance lead and set for 3.5ish volts. When you hear it start beeping, land. Have a few models I started off flying like this until I learned their average flight time.

Assuming you fly it close enough and the beeper can be hard over the prop and wind...
