Good demonstration for painting this 54mm Grenadier Guard. Shown very clearly. The result, a great looking figure. Have a good weekend, Ian. Greetings, Joachim

Impressive work as always mate! Documenting the painting process on such a small figure in itself is super tricky, my respect for that.

A very good demonstration of how it should be done Ian. I really struggle to master the intracacies of figure painting. Whilst watching this my mind took me back forty plus years ago when I was given a 'new' guy to work for me. He was a nice guy but his body had been beaten up during WWII, I asked him once what was the problem with his legs, as he had a very strange gait. He told me it was from parachute jumps. Also deaf in one ear from using a anti tank rifle. I then asked him what regiment he served in. His reply, coming to an attempted erect state, was "THE GUARDS". Now I wasn't particularly well versed in British army regiments and so blurted out "Oh, The Coldstream Guards". I thought he was going to have a heart attack. "WHAT !" he said "No, the only true guards regiment, The Grenadiers". Apparently the Coldstream guards retreated at some battle a couple of hundred years ago. He also informed me that at any parade the Grenadiers will not march next to the Coldstreams. So you can take comfort from knowing you have painted the only true Guardsman.

As far as I know there's some debate till this day about which regiment should be the first regiment of foot guards.....Coldstream are older but the Grenadiers entered the service of the crown earlier, by a few months it seems.....the Coldstream motto, Nulli Secundus (Second to None) was adopted because the regiment is older than the senior regiment (The Grenadiers) and Coldstream always stand on the left of the line when on parade with the rest of the Foot Guards, so standing "second to none"👍

Who else would love to see a short vid where he explains that 2 brush blend technique on the grey in detail at normal speed? Great vid thanks for posting this.

Lol........whilst the highlight paint is still wet, take a dry, soft flat brush and feather it.........repeat until happy........well that saved me a video 😜

Hi just a quick note to say your videos are some of the best and most informative videos on the net. The only person I have found that comes close to you for inspiration is Laser Creation-World. I'm not judging skill I'm not an expert (Best definition Ex is a has been and a spert is a drip under pressure!) Keep up the good work, and remember the haters will alway hate. If you put yourself out there some people will think they have a right, not to criticise you, thats legitimate and can make you better, if its constructive. No they just want to undermine you, and thats not legitimate. Roll on 10K you deserve it, if the numbers are going up, you must be doing something right!

I just bought a wet pallet and am now noticing more subtle techniques you use, and I look forward to attempting to emulate a lot of your methods. Can u list the brushes used (make, type hair, size, etc)? Thanks for a great vid.

Hi, I use Winsor Newton Series 7 in either a size 1 or 0 👍......the big flat brush you see occasionally is just an el cheapo from the local art store

love your vids. may I ask what the actual painting time per figure for you?
@CWModelling
@CWModelling 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks........I'd guess at around 7-10hrs including drying time as I do spend time 'tweaking' things and occasionally I end up painting something like a face 2 or 3 times👍
