There are very few people who are as inspiring as you are, when it comes to making better skaters out of people who truly want to be. You do extensive, intense, yet calm discussion about ALL things skating, and so many STYLES of skating, incredibly well. I'm so very thankful I found your channel within hours of getting back into skating. I got so much out of your videos in a very short time, and can say with certainty, it made me a MUCH better skater than I otherwise would have been, had I not watched this channel. It's so cool to see such a skilled skater with such a desire to get into it more and more as time goes on. You are an amazing, inspiring person. Merry Christmas, David. Great work!

In picking up inlines recently because of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, then continuing to learn+drill fundamentals where I'm continuously getting humbled...it's awesome to see you talking about your ice skate learnings. The timing is doubly entertaining because I'm potentially going ice skating next week with friends. It'll have been years since I last put on rental skates, where it's going to be drastically different now that I'm developing with inline and can use the same boot with the ice blades. Looking forward to seeing how you continue to grow and evolve! Also, +1 to the importance of having coaching and more directed instruction!

Similar experience here @36, I started rollerblading last spring, then started ice skating this fall largely inspired by city blades. You're right, the ice is less forgiving. Seems like a lower effective "edge" than even a rockered rollerblade setup with only 2 wheels touching. You need to be far more precise especially because you go faster haha.

Awesome video! Glad you're loving it, I am also having such a blast with ice figure skating at the moment. Trying to convince myself I don't need the new expensive pair of skates I have my eye on hahaha

Amazing progress! Took me 4 years to get to your level (started at 39) although I had zero skating background except a little skateboarding. How many hours were you training per week?
@DeezSkates10 ай бұрын
I was working with my coach for an hour, then taking a group Freestyle class once a week. Then I probably skated 3 to 4 sessions a week on average to practice on my own.

Is there a discipline in skating you haven't tackled yet? lol When you start moving into competitions, I can see you mixing in your style from inline and quad skating into a very unique ice skate routine. Love your videos as always!

I'm about to pick up some ice skates myself. Hockey skates for me, but I've been wanting to get some for years. Best part is, my great-niece wants a pair too, so we're going to do some skating together. Figure skating isn't for me, but congrats on finding a fun hobby. I can see that the rocker is a lot less extreme on figure skates. The rating must have to do with the radius of the circle the blades would make?
@DeezSkates11 ай бұрын
Yep. I’m not sure what the standard radius on hockey skates is, but figures vary between 7ft and 8ft. On figure skates there are actually two different rocker depths. The deeper one is under the ball of the foot. And the secondary rocker is behind the ball. They both vary depending on what the skater wants from the blade. Hope you have a lovely time ice skating with your great-niece! I’m sure she will love it!

Inspiring! I love ice skating but you just can't beat the convenience of rollers. How do you think ice figure skating compares to artistic roller skating?
@DeezSkates11 ай бұрын
Honestly, I’m not sure, but that topic could probably get deep. Haha
