Rule book 12.4.b : “for an intentional offence in the circle by a defender against an opponent who has possession of the ball or an opportunity to play the ball” In this case, the Belgium player is the initial receiver of the aerial ball. The Indian player tried the interception inside playing distance -> Stroke

@@DrElectroShock There is minimum 2m distance between the two players, and the indian player is closer to the ball. Sorry, I still do not see any interference here.

@@bubbamcgullicutty8966 in this case it does not have to do with who is closer to the ball. Its about who is ready first at the receiving end. In this case the belgian player was ready and stould still to receive the ball, while the indian player came in later to intercept.

Player receiving the aerial ball should be given enough space, which was not given in this case. So stroke was awarded correctly

"there's no clear reason to change your decision" is more often than not the answer from the tv umpire.If one notices ,There is a subtle hint from the pitch umpire not to override his/her decision. Every time I watch a match when this kind of thing happens, my interest in watching hockey reduces!
