You should watch when they play at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Rourkela the second venue. There will be around 21800 Spectators officially and many more with passes. It has been nicknamed ROAR-KELA due to the huge number of fans roaring even during non-india matches. Along with the Kalinga Stadium the new venue has managed to draw more viewers for the sporting event.

Belgium 2nd goal…@03:00. Clearly obstruction from Belgium attacker in possession on left base line. See it even better in replay. Rule 9.12: denying legitimate play at ball with use of leading right leg shuffling ahead to block flat tackling stick. Amazed they didn’t refer! Clear obstruction by the very definition of rule 9.12. Replay from the base line angle makes it even clearer @03:15…watch on for Belgium #32 receive the ball and clearly obstruct and use extended leading leg/foot to block tackle from Germany #15 (see number on shorts)…

Play it in x0.25 speed from @03:15… You’re wrong. The action of making the tackle begins before the stride. The initial right foot exaggerated/extended step movement stands on the tacklers stick, then changes to smaller “shuffles” whilst backing into a tackling defender with his right hip and thigh, and multiple denials at legit play at the ball with his right foot leading and denying the tackle. This is the very definition of rule 9.12 wording. Umpiring standards have slipped so significantly that rule interpretations have become so generous that clear breaches are being ignored. Leads to lower level hockey degrading into the level of obstruction and contact expected in Sunday league amateur football.

@@kanakalatahembram1650 There are 2 that could apply… 9.12 obstruction (stick obstruction) and 9.3 which is “must not touch, handle or interfere with other players or their sticks/clothing”. 9.12 is what’s happening here though. Shielding the ball from legitimate attempt to play the ball with body.
