Hi Rick: I owned a bicycle shop for 11 years and I have to say that evert one should learn how to use the front brake all the time whether or not you are going a down hill. 70% of your braking power is in the front brake. It is best to learn to squeeze slowly and gently and gradually tighten your grip on the lever. I also ride motorcycles and the rule is still the same. Also on Motorcycles the front brake lever is on the right so if you use both bicycles and motorcycles it is best to have both front brake levers on the right. That so you will not get confused if you are switching back and forth.

Thank you for that information, John. I mainly use both brakes, bringing the rear one in slightly ahead of the front.

That was nice of you. I had no idea till one day I rode with a vet. I was afraid of the front tire slipping out. But we practiced on dirt.

Absolutely right. If you ride a motorcycle year round you learn this right away. Ease on in the curve but that front wheel is your best friend when some one decides turn signals aren't something that they ever bother to use 😢

@@gonagain Your review actually sealed the deal for me because I ordered one right after I finish watching it :-) So far I like it. As you said, this bike really moves! I'm impressed by how well accelerates, even up hills. Everything you mentioned in the review was spot-on. I'm having to get used to the abrupt pedal assist engagement. A couple of other issues; the front brake rotor was warped and the rear brake caliper was bent. I'm still having a problem of when I engage the rear break that it pulsates and shudders. I'm not sure if you found this as well, but it seems like the suspension seatpost bottoms out. I'm about 200 lb and I'm not sure why it's doing that. Otherwise, it's a great bike for the price. I don't see anything else out there with the specs that compares.

Nice comprehensive review. This ebike has some features that I'd like to combine with my lectric brand ebike. At first I didn't like the key and battery placement on the lectric but when I researched security measures to keep the bike secure I realized that battery theft prevention is totally built into the design. Nobody is going to quickly pick that lock while it's locked into a stand.

I’m a little bit bummed out that this looks JUST like a Radrunner, same exact model, even the same color. But...I understand this kind of model is incredibly sought after, since it has a very military like design to it. Thanks for the video!
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 жыл бұрын
Rad Runner wasn't the first with this design either. This just happens to be a good design for a utility bike. One outstanding feature of the T1 Cargo is the much lower, rear rack, which greatly improves stability. That's noticeable when you're carrying a load and, almost, tip the bike over. The effort to bring the bike back up is a lot less. Add to that the fact that the T1 Cargo has trouble free mag wheels instead of spokes, larger tires, bigger battery, 7 speed gearing compared to the RadRunner2 single speed and has a front rack included says that the only similarity is the olive drab military color, which has been around since WW2.

You're collecting quite an assortment of e-bikes. I like your reviews of the bikes and also the scenery of where you are riding them. A question I have for you would be when you were out somewhere and you stopped to go exploring, what do you think is the best way to secure the bike?
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Kyle! Usually at that places where I explore there aren't any people around, so I don't worry to much, but I bought a U lock for those times when I think I might need it. Just buy the best one of those that you can afford and also remove the battery and take it with you whenever possible. The battery is expensive and the bike is useless without it, making it kind of less attractive to a thief.

So after a year what do you think of your Fiido? I am giving some very serious consideration of getting one. I have two issues and they are with any eBike, the first is the frequency of battery replacement and its cost ($650 for the T1 + freight), the second, and I just read this today (8/4/23) on the Fiido website, that motors will last 500 hours, 1 hour a day for two years. they list a motor for every bike but I didn't see one for the T1. So all that being said, that is why I am asking how you like the T1 after a year in the desert. BTW, that looks like some fun riding, I'm up in the PNW, Portland but I have some property in La Pine. Perhaps a follow review video?... Happy trails.

I actually live in central Montana and the Fiido is still a favorite ebike. i use it several times a week for errands around town and I still take it camping on occasion. I don't have any idea as to the longevity of the motor, but many people have gotten thousands of miles on their ebikes and are still going strong. Also, Fiido is one of the older companies out there, so parts should be easy to get. I expect to get 10 years from my battery with proper care. Don't charge it when it's warm (after a ride) and, if you are storing the battery for a long time, make sure it's between 60-80% charge and not full. My friend rides his T1 all the time in rough conditions without any problems. The only problem that I see on ebikes is electrical connections that may cause intermittent problems until you chase them down.

Brilliant video 😎 The problem with fat bike tires is that when you get a puncture the tyre falls off the rim, You will definitely fall off the bike😢 My son had a serious accident because of that, I have Fiido L3 350w with 23.2ah Battery, 50mls range using throttle I'm wondering if my L3 battery would fit that so I could carry another one with me 🤔

i live in the uk and ive ordered a folding fat tyre ebike with 750w motor and 48v 13ah battery with throttle. now in the uk as far as i know ebike riders have been using 500w ebike motors on our roads now for as long as i can remember,crime over here is on the rise so the law just tends to not bother with ebikes.as we all know 250w motor is the limit over here and i dont think its enough power to get you up a steep hill.

Rick any thoughts on charging battery with solar. Or 12 volt like from a vehicle
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Don, the best way is to just use the 110 volt charging brick that came with the ebike and plug it into an inverter. I know that there is a power loss doing it that way, but at least the battery is properly protected. That being said, you can purchase an adjustable voltage MPPT controller thru Amazon that allows you to match the bike's battery voltage and connect that directly to a solar panel. There are a few YT videos on how to do that.

So I got the T1 delivered and I have a question about the battery. Check what it says on the side of the battery. Some batteries say - 2170 cells(4000mA). But the one I got says 18650 cells (2600mA). So I was a bit disappointed to see this. The bike was limited to 25 Km but it was easy to disable this. I find it goes to 37kmh(23mph) which is fine. Its very lively but nowhere near the 31mph. So I think they are supplying 2 types of batteries.. The other thing is the range. I measured the voltage - it went from 71% to 37 over about 6/7 miles. I will test more but there is no way this battery is giving 50miles per charge. I would say 30 miles. The bike weight 66lbs with no battery and 79lbs with the battery. btw my display is brightened - no problem seeing it in sunshine. So they have obviously cured that. Its really lovely to buzz around in. Also, I am having difficulty mounting carrier bags as the clamps for quick release are too small.
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 жыл бұрын
I just checked my battery and it does have the 21700 cells, 48 volt, 20AH. Does the new display let you get into the "P" settings? If so, try setting the max speed to 50 and not 100 (it's not an mph setting) because 50 is what usually unlocks the speed on other ebikes. They're sending me the new display, but I haven't received it yet.
@gonagain
@gonagain 2 жыл бұрын
Steve, I highly recommend that you contact Fiido about your concerns. As for the speed, they may have limited it because of U.S. speed regulations for Class 3 ebikes, where you're allowed to reach 28mph with pedal assist and not just throttle. My bike is an early prototype, and they evidently made some changes to it.
@stevemccormack9948
@stevemccormack9948 2 жыл бұрын
@@gonagain The way I unlocked the speed was to hold both brakes, full throttle and turn on at the same time. This causes a flashing "D2" display. After 5 secs let go of everything and that did it. But I have not seen any secondary menus - how do you get it on yours?

The brake set up on that bike is the same as my Suzuki king quad atv left rear brake right front brake. When I first got the atv I had been a touring bike rider so I was used to the other way. I learned the difference right away I was going up a steep hill and was in too high a gear I hit the rear brake the atv reared up rolled over backward left me laying on the ground and rolled to the bottom of the hill I got up walked to the bottom of the hill retrieved my atv. Never made that mistake again.

The Lectric 1.0 weighs 60 lbs. and is bearable (the 2.0 is less because of the 3" tires and rims), but 84 lbs...??? Those are tough roads to be on whatever the suspension and a real workout. I am disappointed with the new arrivals as many companies are cheapening the value by using 3" tires (Lectric 2.0). A much better ride and handling are 4" tires, even if they do not include a cushioned front fork... I'm crazy about that seat..!! Don't forget to cushion/line the interior rim between the rim and tube, between the tire and tube and add Slime, unless you like flat tires and long walks. LOL!

Linda's RadMini has 3" tires too and should be 4" to make the ride smoother. I'll be upgrading the tires and tubes on this one soon. Did you know that you can use motorcycle tubes and that they're a LOT thicker?

@@gonagain A 4" tire on a 3" rim..??? The tire has to fit on the rim, inside the frame members and fenders. 20" motorcycle tubes..??? Who knew? LOL! I also like the macho look of these bikes with 4" tires and why I favor my Lectric 1.0. I purchased the 2.0 for my honey.

(T1 Frame Snapping) I just received an email from Fiido telling me that some T1 frames are at risk of snapping in two half's. They have offered to replace my T1 free of charge with an upgraded frame version that is a fix to this considerable defect. they said the new upgraded T1 frame will have a five year warranty on the new upgraded stronger frame. they said its a particular batch of T1s that have the frame fault and my bike is on there list for replacement all done at fiidos own cost and none to the customer.

The ebike laws are different here in different states. Almost all ebikes in America are capable of going 28mph (45kph), but in my state it's illegal to have an ebike that is capable of going that fast. So, almost all ebikes are illegal? I just think the law needs to be updated. In the meantime, I can't afford to drive my car!

Hello Gerry, first flip the seat up by uding the lever under the rear side of the seat. Then, push the key "in" and turn it to the left (counter clockwise) until it stops. After that you can give the battery a good tug straight up and it should come out.
