Indentured laborers from India suffered a lot during those first five years under Britain in Fiji. I admire our forefathers who worked so hard to make our lives happier later. This song has captured every bit of hardship Indians had endured in FIJI.

Such a beautiful and emotional song. thanks for sharing. I'm from Fiji and have traced my roots back to Gorakhpur. I can understand the hardships our forefathers went through under the girmit system and am so thankful to my aaja who went to Fiji because if he hadn't gone, I would not have the life I have today.

These women spent their whole life waiting for husband who never came back, the great poet in Bhojpuri language who was a great performer also summerised the agony of those unfortunate into a song and poem in such a simple bhojpuri language that it easily touches heart of everyone who has anyhow relationship with Bihar or have undrstanding of the language and issue along with message in the song.
