So excited to see the Fijians participate. Love it!!! Go Fiji. (by the way, short hair is common among the Fijians-men & women for obvious reasons). All natural and beautiful people of Fiji. Thank you for sharing this video.

@dvYne88 Yeah, you're right, Fijians are considered Melanesias, but it's so close to Polynesia. :-) It's still in the Pacific and has such a similar culture to Hawaii that we should know more about it. :-)

@Memo1B Yup very true. I was able to pick up the Fijian language so quickly because it's so similar to Hawaiian.

Fiji is predominantly melanesian in the western islands and becoming polynesian influenced in the windward/eastern islands. there are many words and cultural practices throughout Fiji that are shared with the polynesian people & even the new zealand maori have words that are similar in Fijian. Uniquely fijian "meke" or dances are "meke iri" or fan dance "meke wesi" spear dance, "Meke wau" club dance and "Seasea" womens action dance. otherwise many other dances are shared with polynesians.

@lasvegashula Yeah, my sister was recording this video for me and like many people I know from Hawaii, she hasn't been exposed to the Fijian culture and that's the reason for the comment about the hair. hahaha! It's good for Hawaii to be exposed to other cultures in the Pacific besides the usual Tahiti, Samoa and Tonga.

@lisiatew hahaha! Yeah, it still is :-) I was just saying besides Tahiti, Samoa and Tonga, the usual Polynesian cultures we're exposed to, Fiji isn't really one of them. So it's good that we see more of Fiji. :-)

Lol bruh how do you not know about the history of Fiji, Samoa, and tonga? It's common knowledge that All three intermarriaged for centuries. That's why Fijians have poly blood
