Hello! To answer some of your questions: - They're not dialects, they're languages. Dialect, for example, is Manila Tagalog/Batangas Tagalog/Bulacan Tagalog or Bisaya from Cebu/Bisaya from Davao. Each member speaks Tagalog and their respective languages from their home provinces. - Mo (cornrow guy) can rap too. 😉 - The script featured at the end of the MV is Baybayin. AFAIK other Philippine languages have their own traditional scripts. Baybayin isn't the only one. - MV director JP Laxamana tweeted that the featured traditional dances in the choreo came from Luzon (takik), Visayas (beneracion), and Mindanao (pangalay). You can find them all in KZbin. ^^ - Main dancers are Taneo (the group's leader and the one who played the prince in the MV) and Jao (the blond one). - The candle dance is Pandanggo sa Ilaw.

Really recommend Kasmala! The music video has a lot of references to/depictions of US colonialism, like how the indigenous Igorots were brought to America to be put on display in a human zoo to justify US colonization. I saw in one of the comments that y'all are from Cali, so you'll appreciate the references to the manongs!

Yeap their dance is called Singkil, a traditional Filipino folk dance from the Maranaos. Jao with the white hair and Taneo (partner of Jho) are the main dancers of Alamat. The MV do have subs, pls. turn on the subs. From one of their interviews they said that usually the queen dances for the king but this time it's the other way around. It's sort of like a courting song from my perspective but could have other meanings. Their dances, fashion, musical instruments, lyrics and concept are tradition/history/culture-rich. Main vocalist is Mo (braids) but he is also a main rapper along w/ Alas (the one whose clothes you like) Tomas is also main vocals (the one who made the nice notes at the end) R-Ji is sub vocals (blue hair) But technically the positions are already moot as they all sing, rap & dance in their songs Btw there are english subtitles in all of their MVs :) The character names are characters in a folklore

I'm not sure if it was intentional that you did not push the translation button, but all Alamat's songs actually have translated captions, and if sung in different Philippine languages, they tell you which language. If vocals, you can check out ILY ILY on Wish Bus and Litrato with Thyro Alfaro (who composed Maharani). For socially relevant themes, , Kasmala (colonialism, racism, etc.) and ABKD (colorism, etc.). Sexy, culturally rich references, Aswang and Porque.
