I want to play as real as possible since it is unlikely that I will become a commercial pilot but with your videos, I feel that I can at least live out my dream on MSFS 2020 as close to real-life as possible. I would love to see more. Thanks again! From South Carolina!

Thank you. Great stuff as always; very informative. It should be pointed out that you missed a good chunk of the cockpit prep checklist because you didn't scroll up to the top before clicking. The glare shield group is usually what seems to be the top for me and I always have to catch myself because it isn't the start of the checklist. It is a stupid bug. Anyway, the overhead panel flow that you did when "checking for white lights" comprises many of the items that you missed in the cockpit prep checklist. IIRC, what you missed are the RMP checks. There is an item to check SEL off. In the mod, the SEL light is on, so I've been curious as to whether the checklist or the modelling is wrong--as well as what the SEL light actually means. Also, the checklist groups need to be expanded (by clicking) to see the individual checklist items. I'm assuming you knew that, but it might be worth calling out to your audience.

Hey 320 sim, honestly refreshing on so many levels for me understanding the airbus. Obviously not for real world use :). One of my major issues with proper loading and approach config/execution is an RNAV approach. Innsbruck is a perfect example where RNP is the victor in many descent and approach profiles as to the high and precipitous terrain. Is there any way you could make a video on RNAV arrivals to an RNAV approach transition? As I stated in a previous comment, the embraer I fly here in the states has an extendable line off the final approach course, which lets me “clean up” and then engage approach mode later. Now, in the airbus it isn’t a big deal on an ILS because when you’re on vector you can just activate approach, but let’s say we are vectored off an arrival to an RNAV approach, or for that matter, a feeder routed to an approach from a STAR, how do we activate the approach mode itself? Still wondering and it would be great for me to understand so I can fly into more unique airports like Innsbruck or even KDCA without having to disconnect everything because it “isn’t doing what I want.” Thanks man and I enjoy the heck out of your vids!

realy cool and informative video :D sadly, you kinda made an "overlook" error, on the Cockpit Preparation Checklist - You did not realised that you where scrolled all the way down to the bottom, so you missed the first half. Which isn´t that much of a problem thou, because apart from individual MCDU pages(which you covered partly in a seperate video) it only starts the ADIRS and get´s you the IFR clearence. What i would have wished for, would have been to see an more indepth explanation of the Pedestral, incl. how to work the Radio, Weather Radar and Transponder.

It'd be nice if the cockpit switches and buttons started in random positions, so it'd make sense having to go through the preliminary cockpit checklist, or it could simply save the position of them from the last time the aircraft was used by the player.

Hey there, I've been binge watching your videos because they are so well done and helpful. Question: I don't quite understand the relationship between batteries+external power+APU and therefore don't have a full grasp of when to do what. Could you explain it briefly?
@320SimPilot3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, thanks for watching! Quite a complicated question but I'll try a very simple answer which will skip a few things! Batteries power just a very few basic and essential systems if needed. Normally the system is powered by engine electrical generators. If not using the engines the APU can supply electrical power instead (on the ground when parked). However the APU burns fuel and makes noise so a GPU can be used instead to supply the electrical system when parked as it is usually quieter and uses less fuel. I hope this helps!
@thomasgkman3 жыл бұрын
@@320SimPilot okay I think I understand... So basically you use the batteries to get minimal systems up and the APU started, then use the APU until push and start?

First of all thank you for your great videos. Made by a real A320 pilot it's top! Question: why starting the APU so early since we have the external power available. The engine start (which needs the APU) will come later in the process. Are we not wasting fuel for nothing?
@320SimPilot3 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome! Using the APU is sometimes required for airconditioning so in hot places or if you need the ventilation then it may be turned on relatively early. But if not then you are absolutely right, we often turn it on much closer to engine start. Thanks for watching!

I noticed that in some airports like LFPG or LFPO you are not allowed to turn on the APU until 10 minutes before departure from the gate. So how would you do in real life? In the simulator, I keep the external power on, I do my cockpit preparation checklist, set my FMGS, and 15 minutes before departure, I contact the tower to get the clairance and only after that I start the APU and turn on the APU bleed. Is that how you would do in reality?

Hi, Thank you for your superb content. I have been totally enthralled by the A320Nx mod since getting MSFS on game pass. I have spent the last few months learning how to fly this aircraft, having flown primarily the Zibo 738. It is great to hear what a IRL Airbus pilot thinks of just how realistic and close to the real aircraft the mod is. I would like to know your thoughts on when selecting ground power avail, does the real aircraft make just as much noise when powering up the avionics and the fans. It seems a little loud. dont get me wrong it is rather immersive to see the aircraft come to life from cold and dark. Is this the latest dev build? I cant wait to see how sim brief gets integrated into the ATSU. Thanks again for your time making these great tutorials for us virtual A320 pilots.
@320SimPilot4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steffan, thanks for watching and you are very welcome for the video. The aircraft does indeed make a lot of noise when powering up. The sound of the avionics cooling, fans and other systems are surprisingly loud even when sat on the ground. It is mostly noise of air rushing around being used to keep the screens and computers cool!
