If I ever get my PPL and have a butt load of money in the future, I’ve decided I’m going Diamond. It’s such a beautiful plane with lots of power and range. Only thing I don’t like is that the engines are TBR not TBO, so it would get pricey when that time came around.

Very nice video, Mr 320 Sim Pilot. What amazes me, is how you can talk through a full 46 min video, with almost no interruptions. There's almost no pauze between any of the sentences. Very entertaining. If I would make a similar kind of video, I would have to write out all of my dialogue first and then add it to the video edit track... But with you, it's all very organic, your dialogue, it flows, I like it. Keep up your vids, I'm a big fan. (And you are also the reason why I bought this nice little plane for MSFS...)

You were supposed to actually switch the ecu switches, check that on each ecu the rpm settles 710 plus or minus 10. When switching ecu there should be a jolt. The sound is awesome, sounds just like e4a/ae300.

Thanks for the review! I loved the different angles on landing, especially the gear view. The Twin Star looks very good indeed. I only fly the Comanche and this is the only non-A2A GA plane I'm considering buying. But no fouled plugs to worry about, no mags to check, no run-up at all! No mixture to play with, no carb heat, no prop adjustments in-flight. Just push the button and fly. In real life I would take this over the old Comanche any day but in MSFS I'm not so sure! If only this thing had proper, organic failures like A2A does it, and a walkaround feature...
@320SimPilot7 ай бұрын
I haven’t tied the A2a but it sounds fantastic. This is a great machine too but yes, much simpler to operate in some way, especially engines! Glad you enjoyed the angles, I have good fun with those
@davidtsw7 ай бұрын
I've pulled the trigger on this plane and it's absolutely fantastic. I can move on and park the Comanche lol. By the way, are you up for a challenge? It'd be cool if you make another video sharing your experience. So I've experienced this unexpected but realistic behavior when flying from telluride and after my flight I thought something was wrong with the plane in msfs but it turns out it's a true to life behavior of the plane. The funny thing is I later found a discussion among real da42 pilots and they were talking about how they were caught off guard too. You mentioned you didn't usually fly GA so it might be a nice challenge for you! The best way to do it would be to take the -VI (AE) variant and do a circuit at telluride, from cold and dark of course so you can experience and pick up, or not, what's going on throughout the flight. I don't want to spoil the fun, in case you want to try it, so I don't want to tell you more haha. But it's replicated in the sim so well, I was reading that one post of the guy who experience this issue, unique to the AE variant I believe, and I was laughing to myself cause that's exactly what happened to me in the sim.

With proper training flying a twin engine airplane is not an issue on a single engine on most twins! This airplane I would normally recommend as a multi engine trainer, because you do not have conventional prop controls.

Lovely aircraft. Thanks for the video. Question, the diesel version, wouldn't you struggle to get diesel at most airfields, airports? Or is it multi fuel, or am I misunderstanding, not uncommon. Lol
@ankhtahr14017 ай бұрын
Those Diesels are afaik usually made to run off JET-A instead of AVGAS. Some of them can also run off automotive Diesel, but with a limited temperature range. Not a real-world pilot, but from what I've been reading availability at small fields depends a bit on where in the world you are, but any airport servicing jets would have JET-A.

It takes jet-a or jet-a1, cannot take any other types of fuel.
@ankhtahr14017 ай бұрын
@@AllThingsAviation The included manuals of the COWS DA42 mention Diesel (and specify acceptable temperature ranges for different grades) in addition to JET-A and JET-A1. Not all DA42 seem to be certified to run on automotive grade Diesel (and from what I've found it seems very uncommon in the US), apparently it's a factory option. But the type has provisions for it, and any DA42 which has the AMM-TR-OÄM-42-251 option can run on automotive Diesel as well and the maintenance manual only mentions additional placards explaining the temperature ranges as the only difference.

I use XP12 aerobask da42 or da62, as well as msfs cows da42 and da62. I fly msfs more these days, but imo the ground effect, ground handling, overall handling is much better in xp for these 2 aircraft. There is even a pedestal style keypad to operate g1000 in aerobask da62, just like real aircraft. Scenery, WT avionics, and performance are why i use msfs. The msfs ga aircraft are not as nice as xp, in many respects. One has to use both platforms professionally to notice the difference, imo. Good luck, no offense.
