Hi, is it true that container objects can not be stored externally using FM Cloud? Also, is the 5 user minimum for FileMaker Cloud really 5 concurrent users? In other words, can I have 20 infrequent users (via WebDirect or FMGo) with a cap on concurrent access at 5, or do I need a license for each user even if I never exceed 5 concurrent users)? Hello! Great Questions here! 1) So, according to this official information from Claris, I pulled this quote directly from the documentation on container fields: "FileMaker Cloud supports external storage and maintains it's folder structure behind-the-scenes. " (support.claris.com/s/article/Storage-options-for-container-data-1503693000044?language=en_US) 2) Yes, the minimum FileMaker Cloud subscription is 5 users and according to the EULA, it does NOT support concurrent users - but rather "Named Users." Concurrency licensing is available using traditional server and the investment is 3x providing for any number of users up to 5 at the same time. Hope that answers the question. A client I have has 5 users and wants an online system. $2340 a year seems steep for the cloud. For just 5 users.

Hi Dana - sorry for the delay in this response. If you can squeeze into the Essentials plan, the price is a lot better but if you can't, then yes, FileMaker Cloud requires an investment. You could save money by purchasing the licensing and hosting separately through a Partner firm like us. The price difference going that route is significant especially if you have more than 5 users needing licensing. Let us know if we can help!
