You need to be sure you are going to have at least one evasion after French Twist ends, if you have none just block. It is crucial to have at least one evasion so you can proceed with your ground combo while negating enemy's attacks and that is why it only works on Windswept unfortunately.

That is quite an open-ended question, depends on what you have. You can check Zeow and Kevin Pepino's variant reviews if you need help to decide which character is worth investing. For early game save some Ringlet Spike moves for Filia, as bleed can deal with most of the defenders without requiring ATK.

@@enderknighthuy5044 Most of the time you block until your opponent gives you an opening to attack this is the safest way if enemy doesn't have their BB3 (Blockbusters with 7 or 8 cost) ready. If they have their BB3 ready there is a high probabilty of them activating it when you block their attack. Alternatively, you can attack enemies while they are dashing. It can be dicey as different characters have different ranges, so you should now who beats who. Another way to initiate combos is, if you are at mid-range to your enemy when they are knocked down, first thing they do is crouch attack. Knowing this, you can try to interrupt enemy's attack immediately when they get up after a knockdown by dashing to them or utilizing your other moves. I find this tech quite easy to do with Parasoul. Also you can do two charge attacks before they start interrupting you, might help. Another way to break blocking stance is to interrupt enemy action by giving them fake openings. I do this a lot, it is a lot safer when enemy doesn't have their BB ready. You can do this while enemy is blocking your attacks, by using for example G4 + G3, then you can squeeze in a special move or blockbuster (if you are going to use a blockbuster, you should wait a split second for enemy to initiate their attack animation after your two uncomplete ground combos, then you can use your BB to interrupt. This can also be applicable for special moves too, as you will need your enemy to take action before you take yours). As an important note, this doesn't work on every special move, you need the ones with evasive properties (Fiber Upper, Drillationship, Destruction Pillar, Wulf Blitzer etc.) or just fast ones. Some characters like umbrella can even start their combo with just their launcher without needing special moves and blockbusters (To be honest you can open up with other characters' normal attacks as well but it is quite hard to delay your combo split second then find an opening). The last way that comes to my mind is dash back + dash forward follow up. Here, you do same thing with the prior one you do two uncompleted ground combos then dash back (at this moment enemy either tries to just Throw, G1, or G5 thus this is risky to do in most situations I wouldn't suggest using this tech much) There are characters who can follow up their own throws with normal attacks and Blockbusters too, you can experiment how it works in training. And there are infinite combo characters such as Eliza, Beowulf, Cerebella (Harlequin) and Umbrella. Once they get their combo going they won't be interrupted if enemy doesn't have a burst (If you are just spamming command grabs they won't be able to burst).
