Fatima objected when I was about to squash a big old spider clinging to my plastic card table. Her efforts to save the clairvoyant spider ended up causing catastrophic damage to an important piece of our infrastructure.

Spiders are harmless in the Philippines houses. Spiders eats mosquitoes and ants. It’s bad luck to kill spiders in the Philippines. Filipino kids play with spiders. They would have a derby. Spiders would fight each other on a skewer stick. It’s fun. One of my daily pastimes back in the days. The lottery thing is brought down with traditions/superstitions. Superstitions is very common in the Filipino household. Deal with it and be happy.
