Napaka interesting ng topic na to. Yung unfair labor force tinitiis ng mga pilipino yan para sa family nila sa pilipinas. Malaking tulong sa mga gustong pumunta sa Korea na mga pinoy yung insights ni kuya billy. Love you both.

I can somehow relate to Kuya (even though I'm from the healthcare industry). Not all OFWs get to the glamorous life other Filipinos are stereotyping about. Some OFWs are having a tough life in other countries compared to when they're in their own homeland. That's the bitter reality but on an optimistic side, they learnt to be resilient and patient through hardships. It's really hard to live in a foreign nation which is different from your own culture, belief, and tradition. I, myself, experienced the times when I didn't like the country I was previously working (understaffing, poor admin management, overworked, no overtime pay, no holidays even sick leave, limited off LOL). Every single day became a challenge of survival for me that I always count the remaining days for me to go home. Exhaustion, homesickness, stress and depression became the common day to day battles. What really hurts is the fact that other nationalities view you as someone lower than them and I really hated that superiority complex when they think highly of themselves. Like, we're all humans? we breathe the same air... we'll all gonna die one day... something like that. About the thing, he mentioned that Filipinos are mostly doing the work, which was supposed to be teamwork and delegated work assignments. I, too, experienced that. That's the time I truly appreciated Filipinos. Despite all the racism and other forms of discrimination were facing, most are trying to work hard and are diligent. Not just for Filipinos but other Southeast Asians, I've also worked with Indonesians and I must say, our work together was really efficient and productive. These are just perspectives based on my experiences and I'm not trying to lift my bank. I didn't mean to leave derogatory comments here. Pardon me for a lengthy comment. I kinda made a reflection with Kuya's OFW diaries. HEHE. Thank you for sincerely loving the Philippines. #MentalHealthMatters

This is a gutsy interview so respect sayo for doing this. It must have been awkward. Every country is not perfect and its good to be open to feedback. PH has its bad side din naman. Same lng sa Korean. Being aware of whats wrong and doing something to correct it, is the best solution. Thanks again.

Racism is human nature. Every country has it's fair share of racism. But it's also human nature to do what's right despite of our prejudice nature. I hope this issue between our two countries would serve as a lesson to better ourselves on both sides.
@etrnlygr8tful87
@etrnlygr8tful87 4 жыл бұрын
Racism is "human nature"? With due respect I disagree with that because that is like saying we are all born racist which is not true. Our prejudice is not inherent to us, not acquired from birth, but it is a mentality we learn from other people. Observe how toddlers, pre schoolers interact with other children of different color or age, they don't have pre-conceived bias towards other kids....but as they grow up they start to see the difference & hear it from the media & other adults.
@cindymananzalamartinez6679
@cindymananzalamartinez6679 4 жыл бұрын
@@etrnlygr8tful87 Let me re-phrase that. Prejudice is human nature. That includes racism. There was an experiment done about this. A bunch of kids were prompted to chose which between 2 dolls is the pretty one and which is not. The other one is a white doll, and the other is a black doll. Almost all of the kids chose the white doll, even the black kids. Those are kids who should have no idea what racism/prejudice is, but still they favored the white doll over the black one. You can search this video on Yt. Thanks for the response. I love a healthy debate.

@@cindymananzalamartinez6679 I too love a healthy debate. I am familiar with this experiment & seen a few different versions long time ago. If you noticed in this experiment they did not use toddlers...there is reason for that....because they know toddlers cannot distinguished those dolls based on the questions presented to them. Some of the questions are suggestive, there were kids who make a choice that seemed hesitant to make a choice, but felt they have to. You can see that in the way they responded either by words, expressions or gesture....why is that? Most, if not all of the kids that participated in this experiment already have certain awareness of the world around them...either from their parents, the media (books, games, tv, etc). They're already aware of color association, like if the light is on in their room it is not scary, but when the light is off, the darkness is or can be scary for them. Angels are good creatures & they are white, Bad spirits are usually portrayed as bad as dark shadows. These are some of these awareness that can influence their decisions. If you just let these children play, without adults interrogating them with these kinds of questions, you will see that in a mixed race class, that they will have no issues interacting & playing with each other. As children grows and become more aware of the things that is going on around & experience them, these is when bias are formed. This is why I don't agree with saying racism is human nature. If a child grew up in a mixed race family, they don't see their siblings colors as different as their own, but what they see is a brother or a sister. One's bias or prejudice is not inherent, not second nature, BUT is a product of our environment & our interactions within it.

Its all the same...Wherever you go in this part on this world - especially if its really your first time & you don't know anybody ( I can relate to that - maybe I can write a book about it ) - My first time here in the UK, England - I WAS SO UPSETT & SO HOMESICK, REALLY HOMESICK for almost six months...I experienced a lot (you name it? )...BUT, ONCE YOU GET USE TO IT / MEET A LOT OF NEW FRIENDS / YOU KNEW WHAT TO DO OR WHERE TO GO - AND, YOU ACLIMATISED TO EVERYTHING - LIFE WILL BE EASY & YOU'LL MAKE A LIFE OF YOURSELF....I HAVE BEEN HERE IN UK, ENGLAND FOR QUITE SOMETIME NOW & MAKE MY SECOND HOME NOW...AND, FOR YOUR INFORMATION - I'M A BRITISH CITIZEN NOW SINCE 1985....for a lot of reason. Mabuhay !!!

Hi! This was a really good interview that shed raw info on what can be if in Korea. Wish you could travel in other countries to do the same. It's like a kamustahan GT (get together) of old friends which provides for a factual sharing of firsthand experiences. We know thru OFWs affirmations that being overseas for job is hard. But how and why? This kind of interview answers it. It's like listening to a group drinking together and just talking without any particular purpose or reason just sharing... Good job Stich Choi! More! Thru this the Filipinos who have misconceptions or guessed conclusions? will know better and act/react properly towards OFWs or particular situations in general... Thanks again!😀

Here in uae, we should have annual leave for 22 working days or 30 calendar days..still lucky to have worked here. somehow there is significant difference in salary range here between filipinos and other nationalities, especially the westerners. But we learn to adapt to it, there is no use in sulking over it. That is reality.
