Filipino shopping malls are insane! We had to go and visit the Mall of Asia to experience it for ourselves. Spending your days chilling at the mall with friends and family is a true Filipino tradition that you have to see if you're in the Philippines!

Mall of Asia is being expanded by another floor (4th floor) to reach close to a million square meters of floor area, which would be the biggest mall in the PH / ASEAN by 2022. There will be a soccer field, open street mall, and outdoor restaurants at the roof top, overlooking Manila Bay!

2:10 The rankings that placed MOA in 4th place only has to do with gross _leaseable area_ or retail space. But that's *not* the only type of space these malls have. There's also such a thing as parking space & commercial space. Let's also consider the lots on which they stand. SM North EDSA has 16 hectares of land area. SM Megamall's land area is about 10 hectares. SM Seaside Cebu sits on 30 hectares land area. SM MOA's land area is 42 hectares. So if we are to add the spaces that were not considered, MOA might actually be the biggest - & it is still expanding.

Those mall size rankings are based on the amount of leasable store space. Other malls have an advantage because they are mostly at least 4 storeys high. The Mall of Asia is only a 2-storey structure but in terms of the amount of land occupied, it should be the largest.

They classify malls based on leasable space. I believe SM North has a smaller land area but bigger leasable space. Mall of Asia is huge but with lots of open spaces.

Mall of Asia is bigger than SM north or SM Megamall in terms of land area. But is smaller when it come to retail floor area. SM MOA is only two-storey unlike the other two which has 4 storey building
