Muelle pronounced mwehye. The LL are silent and your'e right that is spanish. Muelle is dock in spanish. Thats the dock that is named after Nick Loney - a British vice consul that started the sugar industry in Iloilo and later on in Negros in 1855. Muelle is where the RORO is going to my city of Bacolod. I been to Ilioilo as a kid many times to visit relatives in Jaro. Love your episode. I miss Iloilo.

for every tourist, La Pax is known for the food. But I would say that what makes La Paz Market the most enjoyable and charming market is the people and over all vibe. Whenever I am in Iloilo, I always make it a point to go there in the morning to spend some coffee time along with the locals and it is amazing! the stories you'd hear, the laughter and warmth, it's just what you need to start the day. People would always strike a conversation and you don't even have to speak a lot, you just laugh along and listen!

Depending on the meat flavors, siopaos are color coded on top. Reddish pink for asado, and yellowish for bola-bola flavors. La Paz Batchoy. Nothing beats the original. It's the best in the world! Proud Ilonggo subs here.

Erin is right: the colored dots mean the type of bun filling you get. The thing is different locations mean different things, but generally red means pork/chicken asado (sweet pork/chicken, saucy filling) and yellow means meatball (or bola-bola in Filipino). Some places, no dot means asado and red dot means bola-bola. Better to ask always when dealing with siopao. Also different locations have different types of breading. Some will have soft fluffy dough, some will be flakey, some will be dense, and some will be cake like. Again, different locations different preferences in food.

In katagalugan area, Iloilo is in the Visayan area. Here we call it Suman sa Ibos same ingredients glutinous rice, coconut milk and salt but we don't fry it. It's already cooked we just dip it into something sweet like sugar. Sweetened macapuno or beans others in mango dips. The word Ibos came from the leaf of a palm tree called Buri or in our area Bule so it's a Bule tree or Puno ng Bule.

Her childlike and warm personality make her so endearing. 🩷 3. Brooklyn is a trooper. Im sure transitioning to her teen years is challenging for her,but i can see how she tries her best to be part of the adventures. 🥹 4. Colt is a charmer! Yep, Roberto’s siopao are pretty good, we’re from Bacolod but my aunt would visit our relatives in Iloilo and would buy the queen ones before boarding the boat back home the things is we had to put those on the fridge should you eat it later as their fillings get spoiled fast, as for the ibos, we also have those here, I’ve seen them sell outside the cathedral, you can actually eat steamed and pair it with muscovado sugar or white sugar…should you visit our city someday try going to the manokan country and try the chicken inasal, it is just outside the SM City

The red and yellow dot on a siopao means the falvor or the variety of the siopao. Usually sioapao has 2 falvors, the bola bola, its steamed meatballs, and the asado siopao, ist like a sweet pork filling. Asado siopao is the most common in siapao. Red dot means asado siopao, yellow dot is bola bola siopao

The red dot is pork asado, yellow (in case u see one) is chicken, and if there is no dots at all, that is Bola-bola.
