Hi there - I'm new to this open world procedural foliage spawner... but I'm curious why not just use the landscape foliage "painting" tools? Or is this meant to be a faster way to get objects randomly placed in certain areas? I'm also curious can you manually clear out certain areas like you can when it comes to painting foliage on the landscape?

nice video, how do deal with dense open worlds for example? Specifically, LODs and Culling. I am making a huge open-world shooter and laying down foliage in a small area is fine, however when dealing with thousands of trees and grass types it effectively kills the project. Any thoughts or links? Thanks!

PCG is still experimental. I would suggest once PCG is in beta or ready for release to use it as a base then scatter some stuff by hand to make different areas unique. This is the technique I would use once PCG is in Beta or Release.

How do you get the resimulate to work at runtime? and can you use like a custom shape for the spawn bounds?
@CGDealers2 жыл бұрын
Maybe via script for runtime. There are no custom shapes except square and rectangle forums based on the scale. The tool is still in experimental phase. However if you find any custom shape methods let me know.

Will be performance heavy as you will need to render the whole 3D two times for the left and right eye. VR is still early in the performance matter. But you could always try and prove me wrong :)

You can always blend your objects by placing similar 3d objects to the ground and mixing them. Or if you want to blend them in real time, you should use "Runtime Virtual Texturing (RVT)" I will make a video about it for sure.

Is streaming levels the same as a normal level. I find it tricky to understand if you have 10000 streaming level for you terrain and also 100 levels that your character travel to such as dungeons. I find Unreal still so confusing. Does everything just go together?
@CGDealers2 жыл бұрын
I would suggest to have streaming levels and different scenes. For example you are walking in the wild and reach a certain dungeon. Dungeon could be on another scene. Not everything should be in the same scene. Ofc you can have it in the same scene but you need to have a lot of streaming partitions, have LODs on objects (even if you use nanite) and a lot of other optimization methods.
