This was great and the scaling formulation was exactly what I love seeing explained out. There is a simpler way of determining Gaea's Z scale # - just take the Terrain Height (2000) and divide it by the Height-Scale Ratio (.4) and you get = (5000) This is because the formula was essentially: (Clamped Height / Height-Scale Ratio) * (Terrain Height / Clamped Height) and bc maths you can cross off the Clamped Height # and get the same end result. Thank you for illuminating details on the proper export process to Unreal!

@RamsesTheFourth
@RamsesTheFourth 7 ай бұрын
You can make the computation of Z scale a bit easier, not to take account of the highest peak. Because, you first take highest peak (500) and divide by Gaea ratio (0,4) and then you multiply it by the result of a fraction Gaea height (2000) and divide by highest peak (500). So those two numbers just cancel out, leaving you with just Gaea height/ Gaea resolution. 2000/0.4 = 5000. Also since you always choose proportional export, these two numbers are connected and the result is always 5000.

Great video! Thanks! Any tips on getting it to import with the axis point centered? I thought I got it once (was it 'fit to data?'... It's not too tricky manually (alt+middle mouse drag & hold V to snap to grid and then right click pivot>set as pivot point).. but would be nicer not to have to... seems weird to me too that one cannot manually enter coordinates to reposition it too, would be way more accurate and quick..

@@CGDealers Oh, sorry 😂 Cool guide! Explain please the pipeline of creating large open worlds with Gaea. For example, do I first need to create a continent in Gaea with different biomes and dividers of natural zones, such as a mountain range, lakes, canyon, to form locations, as in World of warcraft. Or make each location separately in Gaea, and then combine them in UE5? Should there be one auto material for all biomes or should they be separated?

Hi,thanks for the video. I noticed while trying to scale the landscape that the automaterial foliage is not going to match the terrain. I can see in your video that when you play on the landscape that you created the rocks just levitate over the ground when you have steep ground. Have you found a solution for that? Or i need to add foliage manually?

I assume that the resolution 1009x1009 for such big Terrain is not enough. However as I've used the Free version this is the maximum that I can export. Will try with the licensed 4k resolution and will get back to you with the result - if this will fix the issue!

First of all thank you for the amazing video! - Have a quick question (if you would be kind answering). - In the tutorial you covered a World Map of 500m in GAEA, however but for an MMO for example one would attempt to create something bigger. - In Terrain Definition in GAEA we have the option to modify the Scale up to 100Km. - However I noticed that after 10Km it starts to get plane. - Would you be able to explain how one could export a bigger map as for example 50Km (or) 100Km, whilst maintaining the Mountain height and other aspects as you did with 500m?
@CGDealers
@CGDealers Жыл бұрын
The resolution of the heightmap would not be enough. However i would suggest to break it down to different scenes with transitions between terrains. Or make couple of terrains and apply the heightmap to each landscape. Turn on Nanite on the landscape for better performance. Its a game of testing which method will have better performance.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial! After importing the landscape into unreal I seem to be getting seams that don't connect at the edges of the components. You can see down into the floor through them. Do you know what could be causing the issue and how I could potentially fix it? I made sure to follow all the exact parameters that you showed all the way through. Thanks!

Love this... it's great to finally be able to import these giant landscapes to UE5.1. I'm a bit of a beginner though... is it normal for the landscape to be so far down? The location of the terrain on the X and Y axis is -2497 metres... setting the transforms to 0 doesn't seem to bring them up (the Z axis is at 100 but changing this value seems to have no effect). At any rate... thank you for this! edit: apparently I wasn't changing the Z axis enough. Changing it to 200,000 seemed to work but I think I'm probably still doing something incorrectly.

whats the best way of splitting the map into different biomes? i.e, dunes, lakes, hills, swamps etc?
@CGDealers
@CGDealers Жыл бұрын
I would do it on different scenes and make transition spots between scenes. Let say you are moving from jungle to dunes, I would make a little entrance, door, arch or some free space between rocks. While you character is moving through that part I would load up the next scene and do it like that. It's easier to separate everything by using clever level design rather than put everything in one. Of course it depends on the goal you have in mind.
