At 4:35 Mike is on point about no turquoise in an ultrasonic. Turquoise is also set on sawdust material to help keep it from breaking even set in the mounting. Also no pearls, emeralds,emeralds are very soft and pearls will loose their luster. A string of pearls will also stretch apart and become loose on the silk or nylon they are strung on.💛

The purse is made by 'rug hooking' technique. handmade. Long history of this craft. Women used burlap sacks ( seed bags), cut up old worn wool clothing into strips and pulled the loops through the burlap to make rugs for their homes. Hours and hours went into hooking that purse , a shame it is worth so little.
@wilmaholleman58674 жыл бұрын
Sonia K I believe the technique is called smyrna or latch hooking. In the Netherlands, where I live, you could buy complete packets for making a decorative cushion with a cute cat or flowers on it. Mind you, this in the seventies. My mother and aunts used to make them. Haven’t seen m in ages.
@jobianchi27604 жыл бұрын
@@wilmaholleman5867 That purse is much different than the latch hook kits I had in the seventies, but ours could have been different from what you have. Ours were yarn and left the ends on top, kind of had a shag rug appearance.
@wilmaholleman58674 жыл бұрын
My guess is that smyrna is the more refined technique of what Sonia describes with the burlap sacks and old worn wool. It is pulling and knotting short threads of some sort through a mat or piece of stiff fabric. Interesting how similar methods have been used for probably ages on different continents.
@maureen7094 жыл бұрын

I went back to grinding pre roasted beans and making coffee in a stainless, copper bottom, drip pot from the 30-40's. Best coffee ever. It took a couple-3 times to get the strength to my taste. I can leave it all day and microwave as needed. It had gotten to the point that no matter what brand of ground coffee that I bought, it had a left over stale taste to it. I have a small French press but have never tried it. It is still in the box. I used to love Waffle House coffee. Haven't been in years.

Hiya guys, the tiny round lacquer piece even if a well known artist isn’t worth much sadly. I picked up 3 large round lacquer lidded bowls by a famous artist at a completely overpriced thrift store for $3 each, resale for a set of the LG ones is *maybe* $15-$20😕 (doesn’t matter I’m keeping them, love the design). They’ll get priced high, but they sit eventually selling cheaply. Yours, maybe $5-$7 *if* it’s a well known artist, if not, even less, sorry! Very pretty tho! I picked up 3 sets BNIB of those same glasses last week! I’m debating on keeping or selling, prob keep as I’m the breaker of all cups, glasses🤣! Have a lovely day! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️

I went into a thrift store on Tuesday and was acting like I knew what I was looking for LOL, but actually had no clue! However I did find a beautiful small white bud vase with 3 awesome yellow daisy's on it and leaves and NO CHIPPIES! for 99 cents and it's old I can tell. I love it and look at it every day telling myself, this is my first piece! I was even saying to things on the shelves "I'm going to leave you here" wishing you were there with me to get some of these things I really thought were worth something. Like winter harvest clay mugs a set of 8! I know you would have taken them at 50 cents a piece! Oh well, I"m learning, so thank you!

Oh, yeah, that’s probably how it happened for lots of CLL subscribers. I was already reselling when her videos popped up in my feed & I’m thinking “Crazy Lamp Lady, what? Is that like crazy cat lady???” LOL 🤣 So now I look for dishes and pottery at thrift stores to resell. It’s funny, but a bunch a times I have left an item, looked it up later at home and then when I went back for it, it was gone! Trying to get better at grabbing the items with resale value, but it takes time to learn what to look for, research and then only buy the items with value. I have also found nice things for my own home or to use as gifts!
