I'm soooo glad you didn't say ChuckE, lol

Protected Profile don’t knock chuckE. He doesn’t claim to be a high precision welder. But what he does, he does very well. He’s also very willing to admit, and show his mistakes. He’s also honest. He tells us when a company is a sponsor, and gives him something for free. Most others don’t.

@@melgross I haven't trusted ChuckE since he sold out to corporate. All salesmen seem really nice, too.

@@massa-blasta that all changed real quick. Now the channel doesn't even exist. 540k subs and gone now. Like him or not he was a great resource. From knowing nothing to being a decent professional welder. And you could find out anything you needed to know on that channel

Mister Collier is an exceedingly sharp individual. He touched on points most people don't consider. At our facility, we are welding SA612-70 (NQT material) as well as SA517-E (QT material). On pressure vessels, we do quite a bit of submerged arc, as well as other processes. His comments on materials, filler material and compatibility were spot on. Thank you Sir.

Jody... for 6061 Al, I have switched from 4043 to mostly Hobart 4943 for both TIG rod with my Miller 280 DX & MIG wire for my Miller 350P Aluminum Pulse Wire Feeder. I know you have tried it, and I have found it great to use with TIG and also it seems to work a bit better than 4043 on Pulse MIG, with less sooting. The specs say that it is 50% stronger in shear strength and 50% better in dilution strength if I remember correctly. Miller also seems to promote it as the new "Go To" filler metal. Also.... after one of your videos with Mike Zankanato.... I increase my preflow on the Dynasty to 1.5 seconds and now get amazingly clean starts. Thank you so much for all your fine instruction.

Also, on 4130, with 4130 filler and SA517-E, post weld heat treatment is required. Our treatment furnace is 10 feet x 20 feet x 60 feet long. We post-weld heat-treat entire Propane and Anhydrous Ammonia pressure vessels for semi-trailers.

Very good. Surprised there weren’t more questions. I have to think that as most people there were there for the first time, they didn’t know enough to know what questions to ask.
@ryanauger13096 жыл бұрын
That was all of the questions?! What about 4943 we use that all the time for casted alum. So when using 4043 it just flows better. And then to 4047? I want more info! Please.
@mrgreenswelding28536 жыл бұрын
4047 is better better than 4043 for cast aluminium

One of those time when a bargain on eBay seems too good to pass up. I bought 3 1 pound spools of 5556 aluminum for $15. New, sealed, a Canadian manufacturer. Seems like good stuff. But, I’m not sure what to use it for. Yeah, nuts to buy it, maybe. But with all the money spent on this stuff, it’s wasn’t enough to care about. Anyone know what this is best for?

Too bad no one asked Jody to get into sil bronze vs alu bronze rod applications and his choices in some detail, and / or his choices for cast iron repair. I'm very surprised there weren't more questions in general.

Should have asked but was not one of the invited so kept my mug shut. I wonder if there is anything that 4043 Al filler is better suited for than 4943. I know Alaska boat builders swear by 4943 and 4043 has fallen by the wayside in the Al boat building industry in AK.
