A reminder that in another universe, one where Sega of Japan actually cared and listened to Sega of America, we may have gotten a damn good 32x library and had a better-selling Dreamcast too. For now, we'll just have to face whatever horizon this is, and lets do it with a damn smile.

It’s not so much of a “SEGA of America good, SEGA of Japan bad,” or vice versa argument, but more that both sides really ended up screwing over the company as a whole because they weren’t willing to work together until it was too late. Even things like dropping the price of the Genesis and bundling in Sonic 1 never came without problems because where one side wanted to do something, the other wasn’t interested or just wanted to do something entirely different. Both sides of the company had bad ideas, and they had good ideas. They just never took the effort to work together to execute the good ideas in a way that would benefit them both.

the greater problem wasn't one side not listening to the other, but rather both sides communicating poorly, really. on the topic tho, while i'm glad we got games like Chaotix, in reality i feel like the 32X was the mistake; sure, the Mega Drive sold fantastically in the US, but did they _really_ need to keep it on life support with _two_ unnecessary add-ons? not really. in the grand scheme of things, SEGA of Japan should've refused the idea and stuck with the Saturn solely. but what can you do? SEGA released a stop gap add-on with few games you'd wanna play, ruined their relationship with 3rd party developers by releasing the Saturn early in America, but went out with a bang with the Dreamcast :)

considering it was released less than 1 year before the saturn (in japan its even a FEW DAYS BEFORE) i dont think it was ever gonna be that good, anyway where it really shined was the arcade ports - virtua fighter, racing, afterburner. all these games finally got a good home port after so many years. in my opinion they should have expanded on the sega cd as it also had graphic upgrades over the genesis, all the 3d hassle couldve come better on the saturn

This sounds great! Perhaps this was what it would have sounded like if they developed the game for the Sega Saturn. If I recall correctly it was on that platform for a short time during development before jumping ship to the 32X. Kinda interesting to think about. Also I VERY much appreciate the amount of loops before the end, cause the uploads of this song I've heard in the past were too short, even if the song itself isn't that long.
