Always good to hear from you sir!!! The knife turned out great but what really impressed me were your skills at filming and making the knife at the same time. The grinding was cool, but holding the knife with your elbow while filming and marking was the best!!! Have a great year!!!

@@rayjudd4916 Thanks, Ray. I understand that completely, my friend. It is hard with making them by hand and heat-treating stainless steel to keep the price down. @SugarcreekForge
@SugarcreekForge 7 жыл бұрын
Hi John - Yes you can get it. It is called AEB-L. You can find the heat treating instructions online. I always just google, "heat treating AEB-L" and you will find several sites with the info you need. Good luck!

Does it require a HT or is it fine as is?
@SugarcreekForge
@SugarcreekForge 5 жыл бұрын
I heat treated the blank before I ground it. Since the blade is so thin and long, it is tough to keep them from warping if you heat treat after you grind it.

Forge? All i saw you do was cut out a steel blank
@SugarcreekForge
@SugarcreekForge 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Skyanimal - A very good question. Since this knife was made out of ATS-34 stainless steel, it cannot be forged. It has to be made by stock removal. I cut it out, grind it to shape, and then heat treat it. It is not my favorite way to make knives... but it is how to make stainless steel ones.
