I caught a marlin about that size on an ocean fishing trip when I was younger. In what I can only believe was a last act of vengeance, right before it got hauled into the boat it launched itself out of the water, smashed about five thousand dollars worth of fishing equipment, and brought down a bunch of it on the first mate, nearly knocking the guy into the water. Gotta respect that kind of spite, honestly.

Fun fact: Those gigantic fins are more than just stopping devices, they are used for communications as well. Sailfish can actually change colours to communicate with other sailfish when they hunt.
@abbyz13 Жыл бұрын
do they hunt together? this is so interesting
@AntoniusTyas Жыл бұрын
@@abbyz13 yes, they don't do complex coordination like orca but they do communicate to avoid getting stabbed by others. They also use their colour flashes from both the stripes on their sides and flashes from their sailfin to create panic within the school of sardine or mackerel, corralling them together into a tight baitball to make it easier for the sailfish to club as many fish as possible.

@asmodiusjones956310 ай бұрын
Life advice for anyone watching this: usually when people pass out, you have anywhere from 2-10 seconds between when you start to feel dizzy and when you pass out. TAKE THIS TIME TO SIT OR LAY DOWN. Do not excuse yourself. Do not try to walk to a bathroom. Do not try to fight through it. Get in a position in which it would be ok to pass out in. If you feel better, no consequence. If you do pass out, you won’t harm yourself. As this guy demonstrates, just falling while standing up can cause significant injury, including broken bones. Someone I knew was feeling dizzy, and wanted to go to the bathroom. She passed out on the way and fell on her face, shattering her jaw. It knocked out all her teeth and it was two years before she could eat solid food again.
